Yeah, I bought a couple Humble Bundles recently, mostly to get several Cherry Audio synths at irresistible prices.kropotkin303 wrote: Sun Dec 10, 2023 5:57 pm I've been buying Cherry Audio synths, mostly in Humble Bundles as well as upgrading to Voltage Modular Core. I like their stuff. Nice big interfaces as my eyesight is stuffed!
Also Karanyi keyboards. A really cool company. I made a mistake in claiming a discount and they contacted me out of the blue about it! Great guy who did this. Very modern retro styles if you get what I mean.

What about purchases paid for this year, but aren't delivered till next year? Should we consider those for "Last Purchase of the Year" status, or should we only consider delivered gear for Last Purchase of the Year status?vurt wrote: Fri Dec 15, 2023 8:13 pm competition is a strong word for it, but yes.
first, last, most, cheapest, most expensive and of course the elusive "didn't buy anything" all get special mention in the end of year speeches.
Maybe those items purchased this year, but not delivered till next year should be considered for "First Purchase of the Year" for next year?
We need clear rules about something so important!

I like it a lot.stoopicus wrote: Sun Dec 24, 2023 7:37 am I almost bought Seqund today. If it wasn't limited to 16 steps I would have.
Powerful, fun and sporting an excellent GUI.
I wouldn't be surprised if some people dismiss it as "too simple" because most lanes are hidden by default.

Yeah it's 100% not simple, it's super powerful and good at what it does, with a great UI. I just wish it could expand to 32 or 64 steps. Cheap now too while on sale. I am playing with the demo now.
It also weirdly limits its MIDI key trigger transposing to two octaves. Is there a way around that?
My issue is the biggest thing it seems to offer over the Pigments sequencer (which I already have) is it is an effect and not an instrument, for DAWs where that matters for MIDI routing (like Logic).

I agree 16 steps are limiting - but that goes for most step sequencers AFAIK.
Patterns help alleviate that.
(As to Pigments, I've never tried it)

Not that I know of.stoopicus wrote: Sun Dec 24, 2023 9:47 pm It also weirdly limits its MIDI key trigger transposing to two octaves. Is there a way around that?
Not an issue for me, as I use Bitwig.stoopicus wrote: Sun Dec 24, 2023 9:47 pm My issue is the biggest thing it seems to offer over the Pigments sequencer (which I already have) is it is an effect and not an instrument, for DAWs where that matters for MIDI routing (like Logic).

Pigments actually has an excellent sequencer that reminds me a lot of Seqund, including being 16-step.
The advantage to being a MIDI effect is purely a Logic thing. All other DAWs I know of are flexible enough in their MIDI routing to allow one instrument to control another via MIDI, but Logic doesn't natively route Audio Unit MIDI from AU instruments. It sucks as a limitation. You can hack around it but it's annoying me, so I thought I would look for a more general purpose sequencer. Reaper of course has no such limitations, it's only for working in Logic where this matters.

I prefer HW sequencers, tho i have quite a few SW sequencers. Been meaning to try
out seqund since i have all his other stuff.
Would be cool if someone made a SW sequencer along the lines of the MN Rene 2 tho.

I use it as a bleep-bloop background generator. The probability keeps me from getting bored when looping. Wouldn't recommend for creating important melodic components.stoopicus wrote: Sun Dec 24, 2023 7:37 am I almost bought Seqund today. If it wasn't limited to 16 steps I would have.

well id suggest it has to be delivered.McLilith wrote: Sun Dec 24, 2023 5:43 amWhat about purchases paid for this year, but aren't delivered till next year? otherwise, the last purchase of one year, could be the first purchase of the next year, there'd be anarchy!

I got Seqund because I like the way sequencing in hardware modular tends to flow, if that helps justify the software talk.

It looks like hardware... it sounds like hardware (MIDI being silent)... it must be hardware.

Are you saying you prefer piano roll editors, or that Seqund is lacking as a step sequencer for that task?Uncle E wrote: Sun Dec 24, 2023 11:26 pm Wouldn't recommend for creating important melodic components.
