Now all I want to do is make up for lost time.
jamuary? to kick off the year with a boost in creativity?
Hell yes!

I almost have things hooked up the way I want. Trying to wrap it up just in time to only need to worry about playing.

Oh, did I say “one”? I meant seven. Do they have a buy-six-get-one-free deal going anywhere?

Save some for vurt, I'm sure that he'll want to get in on this.

arrives tomorrow I hope https://rarewaves.net/products/lite2sound-ep/
"Lite2Sound™ EP is a portable audio device that picks up modulated light from your surrounding environment and converts it directly to analog audio. EP stands for Enhanced Perception. Its not a synthesizer or effect, it is more like a microphone or radio receiver that accesses a hidden layer of reality. This unit presents you with a scientifically accurate rendition of what you would perceive if your ears were sensitive to rapid fluctuations in light intensity."

I have one. It can pick up some pretty cool stuff around the studio but a limited amount of variety. It really loves my Nixie tube clock (which also has some integrated color-changing LEDs beneath the tubes). I should probably take it places with a recorder to get more out of it.

With all the festive holiday lighting available, this should be an ideal time of year to make some field recordings with those devices. Just be sure to get out and record it before all the holiday lighting comes down soon! :)

I plan to design and build something similar. It shouldn't be terribly challenging to build a basic light sensor, or maybe build two for recording in "stereo". It should be an interesting addition to my field recording gear.

Are the Lite2Sound devices easily overloaded by bright ambient sunlight?

Do they perform well at night, with distant lighting?
I'm involved with photography & audio. For more info, take a look at my site:

Meanwhile I have a field recorder that just sits in a drawer and (almost) never use.

Likewise. I had fun last year, listening, commenting and creating. It was just fun but that cold induced pain. :scared:

Right now I feel 20, until I get up and my knees remind me I’m not. I know you’ve got more in that department than I do but I’m just saying… it’s 2024. Where the hell is the self-injectable knee lubricant? Seems like it should be a thing.
