while i was waiting for NI to release further developed products , many other developers actually did:
- Gforce now have a "collection" of superb synths
- Korg collection became even better + they have some native plugins too
- Arturia reached a new level of quality in their continuous development of v collection
-VPS Avenger received many updates, now its version2
-Nexus opens up: new version of nexus delivers a long awaited features
- U-he gives Zebra legacy for 99 with all the soundsets, also many u-he products got new features/versions from time to time
- Vital appears as a stunning " free " synth
- VCV Rack receives plugin version, later the opensource Cardinal gave you the plugin
- SOnicCharge creates crazy new addition to Microtonic, then release synplant version 2 with "mindblowing ai feature"
- Rob Papen keeps updating their synths, they even RESURRECT ALBINO III as "Albino Legend"
- UAD native plugins become available, currently they have ~6 serious instrument and many effects
-Tone2 keeps updating/upgrading their synths
- FL Studio is the first DAW that includes stem separation feature
........
..........
..............
So this is why i rather not spend 64 eur to update my komplete 12 (standard) to komplete 14. NI do not develop the CORE softwares, they are not future proof.

I appreciate nu stuff,
but don't just shaft us
like, I never realized how much I wanted these plugs,
until I couldn't authorize them
B4 has full range etc.
I want to like Kontakt, but to get everything to load I have to use 3 versions
I need these to be authorizable, even with off-line activation would be fine
Absynth 4 and Pro-53 too

I know, Sherlock.glokraw wrote: Thu Dec 28, 2023 4:07 amThe 'Play' series is not primarily for synth experts. It's meant to provide quick and easy combinations of a collection of sounds, that almost anyone can use. There are hobbyists and creatives to whom those sounds are wonderful, who greatly enjoy the limited creativity possible. Then when someone has a larger Play Series collection, it's no longer such a limited a range. Some of those non-experts will go on to choose one of the Komplete packages. Simple marketing.Wrong Eq wrote: Wed Dec 27, 2023 2:45 pm I think it's pretty hard to design interesting and new synthesizers from the ground up. There is already soooo much. Which is one of the reasons they milk the masses with their ridiculous play series instruments. To me NI is your typical neolibral, soulless profit focused corporation.
Cheers

Unfortunately I suspect FM8 will go the way of Absynth. We can only hope the flagship products get updated, Kontakt in particular is falling a long way behind the competition and is really dated, other than throwing a KK page on the front (which doesn’t really integrate all) and some updated scripting it hasn’t really changed much since V5 (despite being charged for 2 full updates)machinesworking wrote: Thu Dec 28, 2023 4:34 am One thing, All I want is NI to keep Kontakt and Reaktor and Maschine running and to get some sort of modern GUIs and updates for them. I don’t really need them coming up with new things per se, just modernize what they have. I don’t get the X modern synth is old etc. when at the same time people get excited for that latest version of the Minimoog. You include Traktor and Komplete Kontrol and that’s way too much to worry about to be constantly adding new things. So IMO let them introduce dozens of Play Romplers if it means that FM8 and Massive get needed updates.
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

I just can’t believe NI is still using low res bitmaps for most of Kontakt 7’s interface—even fonts(!)—which appear pixelated and low quality as soon as you resize above 100%.

That's the type of thing I am referring to, a Frankenstein's Monster product with the KK Browser bolted in (and unnecessary if you had KK). K7 was such a rushed out half assed money grab, no attention to details, worse performance for many and almost no meaningful changes under the hood...but they did find time to add a big 'shop' button and make updates to the content not work with K6! Hmmm...jamcat wrote: Thu Dec 28, 2023 10:08 am I just can’t believe NI is still using low res bitmaps for most of Kontakt 7’s interface—even fonts(!)—which appear pixelated and low quality as soon as you resize above 100%.

I can't predict what NI will keep or dump, mostly I just want Kontakt to be a good host for sample libraries. It's still better at that than the rest, and why most libraries use them even if they charge too much and some make their own sample payers to host their products, honestly here anyway those other players are always more problematic.SLiC wrote: Thu Dec 28, 2023 9:54 am Unfortunately I suspect FM8 will go the way of Absynth. I totally agree that they're messing up Kontakt lately, I get a samples mismatch warning opening up songs with Kontakt in them, asking me to open the plugin GUI to "fix" it. I just want them to concentrate on the products they have right now, that's what I was getting at, just modernize Reaktor, FM8, Kontakt, Maschine, KK, Traktor, Battery, Massive. Make more Play series to get the masses excited, they don't take much resources, and it allows them to update their current plugins.

All the more frustrating that they are treating Kontakt like some bastard child on a technical level..

Yeah, I just need it to run my paid for sample libraries. The third party libraries aren't getting resizable GUIs anytime soon I would guess, so I just deal with Kontakt as is. It's at least VST3 and Apple Silicon compatible. It's probably never getting MPE support and the half backed resizable GUI is par for the course for NI. I haven't used it as a sampler for my own work in a decade, I've got Falcon, the MPC, and the quick dirty samplers in Live and Bitwig for that.LFO8 wrote: Fri Dec 29, 2023 9:19 am All the more frustrating that they are treating Kontakt like some bastard child on a technical level..
I would rather they get FM8, Battery, Massive X and Reaktor sorted.

Indeed very cool stuff.LFO8 wrote: Fri Dec 29, 2023 9:55 am Yah.. I love Logic's Sampler (and Autosampler) to do my own sampling.
I use Autosampler often to sample my hardware - very helpful and convenient.
