Hello, is there any way in Waveform to use an audio file as an instrument in the piano roll?

Thanks.

Perhaps the Multi Sampler or Micro Sampler plug-ins will give you what you're after.
[W10-64, T5/6/7/W8/9/10/11/12/13, 32(to W8)&64 all, Spike],[W7-32, T5/6/7/W8, Gina16] everything underused.

Question isn't clear. You have a MIDI file in Piano roll and wish to play a piano as the instrument? (easy enough to do, you really just need a Piano VST of some kind, or the Micro sampler with piano samples). You can't directly just "use a piano audio file" directly as an instrument, though - easier to use a piano VST of some kind. Lots of free ones.

Or better, find an .SF2 soundfont file, which somebody has already taken instruments and multi-sampled them as a library. Lots of free ones around as well.

I want to use a .mp3 or .ogg sound and transfer this to the piano and play that sound on all different keys of my MIDI keyboard with different pitches.

Soundfont files will probably work but I have no idea how to make them work. What plug-in do I need to do so? I haven't found any. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure that Waveform's instruments only accept wav and aiff files so you probably have to either convert your mp3/ogg files or get a 3rd-party sample-playback instrument that can handle those formats.

You could try sfizz: https://sfz.tools/sfizz/

I'm on Windows but I was able to download and install sfizz* and then I could drag and drop** both mp3 and ogg files onto its interface and use them as an instrument.

* The LV2 version is not working on Windows. I don't need it, but Waveform seems to think it's a website instead of a plugin and that's weird.

** Don't forget that in Waveform, using the Files tab in the Browser, you need to drag the file icon and not the filename. They're different.
Surely there must be consensus by now...

In case there is some confusion, the flow is in the other direction. You can't transfer audio to the piano roll in Waveform any more than you can put a piano on your fingers in real life. (Or shouldn't, anyways.)

Waveform has a nice left-to-right flow. MIDI comes in on the left from a keyboard, saves to MIDI clips in the middle, then that MIDI information goes into an instrument plugin on the right - which turns note and duration into audio - which can then flow through effect plugins to the right of the instrument plugin.

If you are trying to do any of that in reverse you won't get the results you want.

Right, I figured that out with a bit of trial and errors. The plug-in you shared called "sfizz" works the way I expected it to be. Thanks.
