They are scum, I will never buy another product of theirs again.
No risk for you: they do not have another product...
Well if they ever do, I ain't buyin it :x
:ud:
I will - if it’s worth the money.

Just treat it like a Kontakt library and only buy it if you really need it for whatever reason. Majority of those are not transferrable. So are several plugins. It’s not a big deal (to me) as I only sell off a few plugins per year and don’t see Gulfoss as ever being one of them.

Gulfoss for $99 was a bargain.

I don't mind NFR stuff if they're clear that that's what they are, but I do mind things with farcical resale policies trying to pretend they're complying with that EU ruling while doing nothing of the sort.

Is there a legal limit on how much they can charge for license transfers in the EU? Or could they say it's

I don't think there is a stated limit but I'm pretty sure "we'll charge you up to 100% of the retail price for a transfer" is not within the spirit of the ruling.

Fun begins when you realize your license is NFR, then they tell you that it's NFR because it was purchased on sale, even though it hasn't been mentioned or specified anywhere during the sale (or afterwards).

So yeah, I bet there are quite few people who will never buy anything from them again, no matter the product.

I am glad that some people buy things which they later never need or want to sell. Good for them.

However, they are not other or all people.

Perplexing.

People's tastes can change, they buy a new plugin which they prefer and want to sell the old one.
I'm not seeing a downside to a fair resale policy even if you doubt you will need to use it.

When you buy a car, would you like it to be worth $0 after you buy it ? That's a no no for me, and if you can afford that kind of policy you must be earning tons of money. If it's mine I can sell it

Besides the impOSCar 2 and Icarus 1.6 with CM magazine online, are there any other issues worth getting I may have missed?

I’ll let you know once I see a plugin that costs as much as a car.

It's not a big deal, it just rubs me the wrong way to have somebody say "sure, we'll let you transfer your license. Just pay this ludicrous fee." Just make the damn thing NFR after the first year and stop pretending you actually allow transfers.

I knew it up front as it was stated up front. Maybe people shouldn't randomly buy stuff without learning what they're buying or at least accept their choice if they do? But, yeah, sure - some people don't pay attention and don't like their choices and then will blame others for it. Could the NFR thing be stated more clearly? Sure. Is it a complete secret you can't learn? Nope. I did before making the purchase when it was new for Windows.

Again, this is very much like a Kontakt library that are almost all NFR, and I've easily spent way more on those than on Gullfoss. I've also stopped using many of them but continue using Gullfoss. I don't care at all if it's NFR, but that's me.

All that said, I'm also not a lawyer in the EU or any other universe, so I have zero to contribute as to whether the company is somehow violating a law.

Maybe they’ll just create a new company for every new product?

I thought the part where I clearly stated that license becoming NFR was not mentioned anywhere would be understandable enough.

But no.

Maybe it is specified now but I wouldn't know, I don't care and it doesn't matter. It mattered when I purchased it.
