They all sound the same.
Not like Marshall clone amp sims, which are of course all totally different...

Ah, you did the video?
Hehehe, Hive's different engines have different unison detune laws. That might make a difference in such a demonstration
The missing content beyond 19kHz on some (but not all) notes is something we observed in other synths, just like Sylenth1 at the time (I think they changed it with that last major update). It's the result of "mip mapping" oscillator waveforms, and it lends itself to great optimisation with no audible drawbacks. If it's a showstopper for someone, just load a wavetable because the wavetable playback engine always band limits to the full spectral extent (no gap!).
Then, the version you used is 4 (!) years old. Back then Hive would always process all oscillators, modulators and filters, no matter if they're audible. Because, hardly any preset would use only one or two of these, and thus why bother? - Turns out, a dev has to bother! - People on Youtube and elsewhere tend to compare CPU performance based on oscillator per oscillator, filter per filter and so on. This put Hive in a bad light, so with one of the most recent updates it only processes the stuff that's audible. Now it will hardly ever use significantly more CPU than any other synth in any laboratory setting.

Chainsaw is lush. I thought about getting one, but I went for a Ziqal Dimension instead, which can do super-anywaveform and a bunch of other stuff too!xbitz wrote: Fri Jan 05, 2024 11:34 am personally I like the

Hive does the JP supersaw and the JP supersaw "sound" so well that I don't even bother with anything else. Not even my real JP-8080.
