Ah thank you - I tried it and there it is!beely wrote: Wed Dec 20, 2023 3:20 pmThe UI design is pretty poor imo, so no wonder features aren't discovered easily. The tags are accessed in the browser in the User banks, eg:-noiseboyuk wrote: Wed Dec 20, 2023 1:58 pm Now blue is back (the most important thing), has anyone been able to find any evidence of all this tagging work?

But very basic and oh what a mess. Tons of duplicate entries, and there's no back button when you scroll to the next page. You have to select a different tag, jump back and scroll through again.

I haven't tried with the new one, but I did with OB-X and OP-X Pro II, and could basically match sounds to be functionally identical sounding, apart from the resonance which behaved slightly different between the two.tendingtropic wrote: Wed Dec 20, 2023 3:38 pm anyone also own the gforce new plugin and able to compare with this one in therms of sound?
OB-X sounds great, and the interface is about 1000% better than OP-X, so I think it's the better product, personally. The main draw of OP-X is it has a lot of presets which people seem to like, and it sounds generally good.

OP-X Pro also has a lot more flexibility in the sound, especially with the filters, which has many options like 24db, as well as SEM style morphing.beely wrote: Wed Dec 20, 2023 5:03 pmI haven't tried with the new one, but I did with OB-X and OP-X Pro II, and could basically match sounds to be functionally identical sounding, apart from the resonance which behaved slightly different between the two.tendingtropic wrote: Wed Dec 20, 2023 3:38 pm anyone also own the gforce new plugin and able to compare with this one in therms of sound?

Which is interesting because he looks to be a Logic user. I'm gonna drop him a message and see what he says.beely wrote: Wed Dec 20, 2023 1:50 pm I tried the demo, and it's really a buggy mess at this point (at least in the AU version), especially when saving/reloading presets in your DAW, or doing much with the preset browser. If you're lucky it might recall your saved preset once, but then it will stop loading patches, or kill the output, and will keeps on nuking the preset banks in the preset browser into an empty state until you reload the plugin and they all come back...

Yep, this is true, it does have some features over OB-X, and also vice versa (eg all the Xmodifiers and stuff). I wasn't trying to say they were functionally equivalent, I was just interested in the raw sound quality (eg the oscillators, filters) as people think quite highly of OP-X in this regard, and some people felt that OB-X didn't sound as good - so I took a little time to compare them to see what I thought about the issue. In terms of "sound quality" of the core components, there wasn't one that was clearly much better than the other, and in this regard, I found them more or less identical, at least in my testing...Echoes in the Attic wrote: Wed Dec 20, 2023 5:24 pm OP-X Pro also has a lot more flexibility in the sound, especially with the filters, which has many options like 24db, as well as SEM style morphing.

op-x pro 3 sounds clearly better than v2. At least the regular (high cpu) version.beely wrote: Wed Dec 20, 2023 5:03 pmI haven't tried with the new one, but I did with OB-X and OP-X Pro II, and could basically match sounds to be functionally identical sounding, apart from the resonance which behaved slightly different between the two.tendingtropic wrote: Wed Dec 20, 2023 3:38 pm anyone also own the gforce new plugin and able to compare with this one in therms of sound?

The new dark op-x interface is much better. The led halo's are not fun though and some stuff is pixelated. But if you ignore all the little trimmers etc i think it's ok.
The ob-x interface is not easy on the eyes either.
The balance is off, the stuff you want to focus on is fully to the right. Instead of in the middle. And who needs a keyboard on screen?
I still dream of a vectorbased gui for op-x 4 though.
So which sounds better? Demo them.
The op-x can be an ob-x, but what is more important is that it has Oberheim vibe all over.
Whether it's x, xa or matrix.
Op-x has additional high pass\bpf filter.
Plus, it makes a nice prophet, jupiter or crumar. It even does a mean jp6.
Op-x is 12 voices, ob-x has 16.
Op-x cpu usage seems lower.
Op-x sound is so good that most presets don't even have fx enabled.
Most of the ob-x presets have reverb, chorus or delay on them. Often multiple fx at once.
Why would a clone of one of the fattest polysynths in existance need that?
To me the raw sound (without fx) of the op-x 3 is the clear winner.
Disable all fx on the ob-x and hear for yourself.
If fx on the synth itself is important to you, then buy the ob-x.
Still, if you buy both like i did, you spend 1000 less than on the Behringer clone.
Buy a cheap minilab controller to map it to, layer them and you can roll in your obie basket for the next few years. For pennies.

Yeah, great sound with a horrible UI.mi-os wrote: Sat Dec 09, 2023 5:33 pm Sorry, but the GUI is the stuff nightmares are made of. I can't believe he found a way to make it even more complicated. Looking forward to v4.![]()

When I click on ''Crash The Computer and the DAW'', the plugin and DAW always crash.

Neither is one analog from another of the same model. It’s close enough that I don’t think anyone could identify it in a blind test of three different real Oberheims (of the same model that the pro-x models) and one pro-x, which is good enough for me.egbert101 wrote: Sat Jan 06, 2024 11:10 pm The click is impressive and so too are the sounds. But still not 1:1 same.
