What is your favorite transient shaper ?

I like building my own in FabFilter Saturn or Volcano. This gives you ultimate control over it and you can assign all the relevant parameters to macro knobs. Especially within Saturn you can further refine the sound by applying the processing to the saturation itself as well.. meaning you can enhance transients further by either increasing saturation on the transients or just the sustain part, causing a sort of additional psycho-acoustic effect making it even more separated.
.. but recently after getting hold of a Console 1 mk3 from Softube, I've been using the built in transient module in the new mixing suite. It's really good and very good at sounding "good" on a lot of different material.

My favourite for years now is TransReckon from eareckon:

It's 'Length' and 'Sensivity' controls and 'Listen' mode are really great for fine tuning.

Honestly, they'll all behave pretty differently, so it depends on the situation. Even just using breakbeats for example, the character of the break will make a difference in how each one processes them.Igro wrote: Sun Jan 07, 2024 7:51 pm Didn't know that there are so many. So which one is the best then?
For my personal use, between Elysia Nvelope and SPL Transient Designer Plus, I'll get fantastic results pretty much every time.
But Transient and Kilohearts will sometimes give me more "extreme" results for when I want a more squashed, less natural sound, so I'm always happy to have them installed. I'd assume other free and paid ones have their own advantages and disadvantages as well.

The one I've used the most is the Kilohearts one, did just get the Sonnox Envolution plugin though and I look forward to getting to know it as I work with it more. Kilohearts has something solid for everything, though, that's my favorite "All" bundle I think if I had to pick one

Master Lab's DynaQ is like Transgressor on steroids. It has a bug with bypassing in Cubase where bypassing in Cubase turns off the effect but not its latency so you have to alt-click to disable it to effectively bypass it.
Spiff is nice too.
I like both on a mix bus to make the tracks cut and fade as I intend.

Agreed !Havok wrote: Sun Jan 07, 2024 12:36 pm Surprised Sonnox Envolution hasn't been mentioned.

thats the last one i had in use. Found it quite compelling to work with that one.
Looking at this thread, seems it´s quite underrated.

i've had my eye on it forever,
if Sonnox ever decides to do machine auth then i'll buy it, until then - no dice.

I’ve never noticed that before, but then again, I’m usually either cutting tails or slightly boosting transients. You sure it’s not just the effect of persevering less high end with the reduction in transients?Igro wrote: Sun Jan 07, 2024 8:06 pmI have this one. It has many options. The only thing that I didn't like is that it increases the low end of the material when you decrease the attack.DJDJ wrote: Sun Jan 07, 2024 4:04 am The last time I compared a bunch of these, Waves’ Smack Attack came out on top. It’s much more natural sounding than most of the other to my ear. I use it in every tune, and it always sounds good

Just wanted to say there are some great recommendations of free plugins I've never heard of in this thread.
Couture (free version), Transpire, Transient, Crack, and Kilohearts Transient Shaper are all phenomenal.
I'd argue that Elysia Nvelope and SPL Transient Designer are pretty special, but if I didn't own them I think I'd still feel pretty set with the free ones I listed above. They all sound great and have their own little tricks or characteristics that make them unique.
I never thought I'd have 7 transient shapers installed, but here we are.
