Eh? You mean the Virus TI Suite installer? Yeah you still need the hardware to even install it.. at least that's what I remember. Has it changed?
I think so
Just so everyone is clear, you don't need the hardware to do this, I did it a few weeks ago. Downloaded and installed- no hardware. I cant say if you needed to own the hardware to access the download as I did once own a TI so had access....
AFAIK, you still need to enter your TI serial number on account creation. Meaning that unless you own or owned a TI (and still have the serial number), you can't get the firmware directly from Access.
That is not true.
I don't know if they change something. It was the case before
From Access

The serial number is located on the bottom of the unit. Please note that the serial number is case sensitive.

I registered an account with them a few months ago, and downloaded the TI software. I didn't have to fill in any hardware serial.

The developers have carefully chosen their words about this. Best to read the Discord. They seem to feel that talking openly about it like this could jeopardize the project.

Anything specific happened in the past few months? I'm a bit out of the loop as I haven't really had time to follow the project.

Has there been any clarification from Access themselves?

It's really funny that they develop the emulator, then release the Virus TI version to the (paying) public, and then complain about discussions about it. Seriously. If they don't want any discussion about anything concerning the plugin, they shouldn't release it.

That combined with their attitude they showed towards using warez (basically, they say they're absolutely OK with it) leaves a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. I don't really know what their point of view is supposed to be. What they do is grey zone. Time that they face it.

Anyway, I'll shut up, and never waste a word on it again. If that's what they want. The TI emulation is completely ridiculous in terms of CPU usage anyway.

To get an acces to the alpha/demo, they specifically ask for a donation

The Virus C is ok
It's the price to emulate 2 DSP and a way more complexe synth than the Virus C

I’m not trying to shut you up. I’m just saying that all this information is probably best found on the Discord and worded in a way that’s sensitive to the situation.

Contributing to the project is optional unless you want to be part of the Alpha test team. They are not selling the software, just wait until its finished you get it free...just like the 2 they have already released. It's pretty hard to complain about that.

All you get is a "We can't and won't discuss that here", and, in the end everyone finds out anyway.

So you did waste another word on it after all.

Don't be naive. Yes they are selling
To get the demo, you need to donate
In other words, you pay for it

I am not sure what you are not getting, it’s not a demo and you don’t have to pay for it, you don’t need to donate, you don’t need the alpha at all as they release it FREE when it’s finished which has been a few months after the alpha normally; you don’t need it until it’s finished, so it’s free.

Yes, you’re 100% right. I’m a happy donator and Discord member, maybe that’s clouding my judgment.

I think all they have ever said you can’t discuss is how to get the ROM files (even on Discord) as AFAIK
