Yes, I know, I love this song :)
It's one of my favourites ever. An OSC classic.

Hey, with a synth of own choice, only great tracks until now! Amazing round and hard voting work!

Damn... I reuploaded again new version (delete / upload again / update link).
Good that changing source is allowed. :)

Good luck everyone!

It certainly wasn't always like that, as in the past I've joined in two or three times before I even had a Soundcloud account. The only requirement was that the file had to be downloadable - exactly as in the KVR Music Cafe.
It started a long time ago, I think. And to understand why this is necessary, you just have to go in and vote once. The voting page is arranged in a stunningly convenient way, all tracks are placed compactly, grading by dragging, and you can open any track in a separate SC window to read the description and tech-info, see the cover and immediately leave a comment. It is worth noting that commenting is one of the most important components of OSC! And this is practically absent in the Music Cafe. It also becomes a headache to catch tracks on several forum pages - I think you can still put up with this, while the number of tracks is about 10-15, but I can't imagine messing with a lot.

I think that behind the scenes of the OSC voting site there is an automatic points calculator (under the wise guidance of the Founding Fathers :hail: BJ and RS!) that gives out a very wide range of information, is not afraid of 70+ submissions and does not require taking Goldenshorts* into slavery for several hours or days to score it!

Hello IV!. It's true that you started a long time ago, but... I think Folderol started long before you. You can find an entry by him in OSC26 (ZynAddSubFX), year 2011. Just say....

I'm not arguing) I wasn't talking about when I joined OSC (in 2019, relatively recently), but about when everyone started submitting only through SoundCloud. I've looked at it now and some links are missing, but it seems to me that in the 40-60s OSC, everyone was already switching to SC. Also, someone of the old-timers can tell when a modern voting site appeared that works with SC submissions, this will definitely be the latest possible point!)

I don't understand one rule - song can't be published before, but it's published anyway on SoundCloud where everyone can hear it before deadline. Is that rule (not released before) was for create songs especially for OSC? What if I publish it on FB as a link to SoundCloud? Just asking (curiosity).

Post

This means you should not have published it before the challenge start, would mean before january this month...

Post

Yeah, it just means it should be an original work for the competition. I don't think there's any issue with also posting it elsewhere.

The rules say:

Your entry must be composed specifically for this contest. Cover tracks are not permitted.
Collaborations are allowed. The collaborators do not need to be KVR members.
Max 1 submission per entrant (person or team)
No track length limit
Your entry may be edited / changed / updated as frequently as needed up to the deadline
Commercial synth patches/soundbanks are not permitted
OSC might request project files at any time. Failure to produce it upon request will lead to disqualification
(intellectual property respected with file used for examination only and destroyed immediately afterwards)

So this isn't my final submission or anything but I'm just putting it out there to maybe inspire others to consider the monster toy box as a fun option for the challenge

Here is my example.

I created second song using single synth. A little "by accident" - just wanted to test something. ;)
I stay with my first choice, but maybe someone wants to listen this one just for fun (https://www.xtdmusic.eu/union.html - link with redirect since I don't want to embed this song here)

Anyone even remember old Union synth?

Maybe your browser blocks pages that redirect to other pages.

Link without redirection, just with standard link inside.

That works now. Does sound pretty good. Thanks for sharing.
