Ugh, this is one way that Ableton is just as bad as some other companies when it comes to upgrades. There is no open public beta when they offer the discount on upgrades, you're expected to, (if you didn't get in the beta pool), just rely on the new release to be what you want and stable based on description and anecdotal evidence from other users in the beta. It's just, kind screwed up to do that to people.
the discount is still on and you will be able to have a 90 days trial afaik.
The discount is available for the pre-order.
For a limited time:
Pre-order Live 12 Suite and save 20%
It says nothing about a 20% discount after release. The 90 day trial is not Live 12, so no, unless they decide to extend the pre-order discount past the release, you cannot demo Live 12 and get the discount without being part of the beta.
Hoooo. Where have I been. What is this talk about not getting the discount without being part of the beta?

I thought if you buy Live 11 during the 20% discount period you get Live 12 for free no matter what. It doesn’t say anywhere that you have to be part of the beta.

He's saying "You can not Demo" if you are not part of the Beta, and since you are eligible for a 20% discount "Before" the official release, obviously you can get 20% off but without the possibility of Demo...because you are not part of the Beta. :phew:

I feel like I have not been unclear about this, but let's go again.

There is a 20% discount on the upgrade until the release of Live 12.

That discount does not seem to extend past the official release of Live 12, no indication it will, every indication it will not.

If you are not part of the beta you can buy the upgrade without ever using Live 12.

If you are part of the beta, you can see whether the new features are to your liking and test it on your machine. You can also get the discount until it's released.

So essentially if you do not do free QA work for Ableton, you cannot get the discount on upgrades unless you take the chance on the pre-order, that you will love the new features in Live 12 and it's stable on your system.

Fair enough! Sorry , I’ve just jumped into a conversation without understanding the context. Panicked 😱

They only released the latest beta yesterday so I think it'll be spring when it's released.

Post

They fully released the new MAX 8.6 that is needed for Live 12 today...
They also released a new wave of betas I believe.
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

 It's getting closer!

Finally on the beta as of today, about to go dive in. I’m perfectly fine with them not releasing it before it’s ready, IMO they released 8 before it was ready and learned their lesson. I get being frustrated about it, but it’s worse to pay for buggy software.

Public release is close according to an Ableton dev on X.
What sound do dreams make when they die?

I found my first bug, but I think it's also in 11? Anyway, I hope not. They had a projected February release and at lesast they should wait that long. What's the point of binging in new testers then not fixing bugs they find and releasing anyway?

I got an invitation yesterday to join the beta, but I can't seem to create an account for their beta server. Anyone who had this problem as well?

I had an account already from the 11 beta- any chance you had an existing/past account so it wont let you make a new one? I hope you are in by now!

This is very exciting- just looks at the MIDI tools this guys has made (then it tells you how to make your own in MAX)
