Hi
By the moment, i'm looking for a simple vst tool which oculd make drum rolls, like some hardware drumbox...
SOmething like a one-note arpegiattor, playing X times a specified sample (or note) at a specified ration, with some options (straight, ptich-shifted roll, panned roll, accelerating, etc.)
I've never heard about such a thing, and still make my rolls using pencil.
A vst like that could be usefull in live situations, no ?

Playing the same note X times won't give you a realistic drum roll effect - it will just sound like a sampler retriggering. At a minimum, you need a tool that will trigger two sounds in alternation, and ideally you need some kind of cross-damping where the triggering of the "right hand" sound causes a partial muting of the left.

in fact i'm into electronic music, so i don't mind !
i'm just trying to find a software recreatio of what i have on my hardware gear...[/quote]

Nearly all sequencers have a Piano roll. You can use the pencil tool to draw notes. A lot of 'em...
My MusicCalc is temporary offline.
We are the KVR collective. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated. :borg:

draw the notes & create a velocity curve to get a sorta decent roll fairly easy. You'll probably need to bump up your piano rolls default resolution to enter a convincing amount of hits.

hm, I think what sinkmusic really means is
some kind of MIDI-plug that automatically generates rolls at the push of a button, like a drum roll macro or something, so he doesn't have to do it when jamming live etc.

Not sure such a thing exists, sinkmusic. Maybe saving some rolls as midi sequences would do the trick??
You could import those relatively fast, or you can make them part of your default project file

You need it for long rolls or short rolls?

well it can be done in energyXT with the midi comp.
exactly as you describe you can make a drum-roll like midi and trigger it with one note. I didnt try it yet, but it should be easy.

or you can use the arp comp too and trigger it with one note only. should work also.

Yes, but i was thinking much more of some kind of a trigger with some options, i think that could be usefull ; I know many free vst arpegiators, but i never heard about any plugin able to repeat the same sample or note, sync with the tempo...

not that i use it , but FLS piano roll has 'strum' and 'flam' tools that will do what you describe ...

i second what rsmus7 said, go with eXT.

yes eXT is not free but much more then the usual free arp´s you can get.

maybe you can give it a try and see if it can fit your needs.

The demo version is fully functional, only loading of saved files is disabled.
So you can have the whole experience. I heve already heard songs done in the demo version ;-)

but not with a drum roll ;-) sorry

maybe I can do a test to see if it can work thze way I described.
But it might take a few days, I´m a bit busy now.
