People who sing in an american accent, when they are not american, nor do they speak that way :x
How original

I had no idea Tom Sawyer was a musketeer. As a matter of fact the only thing I know about the 3 muskateers is it's a good chocolate bar.

Another vocalist I don't like is Gwen Stefani.

Post

Lennon-McCartney, Bowie, David Gilmour, Peter Gabriel, CSN, Anne/Nancy Wilson, Joni Mitchell, Carl Wilson, Art Garfunkle, Grace Slick, Nat King Cole, others I can't think of.

I can take Dylan in 30 minute increments.
Don't like: hmmm…
Sinatra, Bing, Anka, any heavy metal screamers who sound like their balls are in a vice or their voices coming from the bowels of my….bowels.
Rap. Can't even consider it 'singing.'
Jagger is ok,in his lane. Faux Blues-boy from the London School of Economics.

Oh: and I really can¡t stand angry, whiny Roger Waters for too long.

About recent names I like Lady Gaga, can't stand Damiano (Maneskin).

Beonce - when she sing higher notes stronger it's so annoying.

cannot tolerate even a minute of hearing axel rose.
never really understood why people liked bon jovi as a singer either.

Hate: William Shatner, Cookie Monster vocals in general.

Some voices seem like they're perfectly fine and yet they irritate me and I don't know why. Examples I can think of offhand are Kate Rusby (who my wife adores) and the guy from VNV Nation.

Melismata can be OK when it's tasteful but what some of these are doing is melililililisisisisisisismamamamamamatatatatatatatatatatatatataaaaaahaaaaaahaaaaaaaaAAAAaaAAaAAaAAaA. The first line of the US national anthem is not meant to have 75 syllables.

Which reminds me, Mariah Carey. I was tired of her squeaky bullshit in 1991.

Bjork definitely is on both sides of the love/hate divide for me. It depends on which song/album.

Love: so there's this spot in a Xandria song where the singer jumps up an octave and it's heart-wrenching in all the right ways, and in another song on the same album where the last line is lower in pitch than the rest of the song and it's bone-chilling in all the right ways. I *think* the singer on that album was Lisa Middelhauve (they've had 6 different vocalists so far).

Big fan of Tarja Turunen (formerly of Nightwish) too.

Most of the voices I love are female. Skye Edwards, Alison Goldfrapp, Shirley Manson, Geri Soriano-Lightwood, Pat Benatar, Ann Wilson, Karen Carpenter, Linda Ronstadt, Toni Halliday.

As far as vocalists where I hate the sound of their voice, Alanis Morrissette and P!nk.

I can't listen to Jim James or whoever the singer for Mercury Rev. Both those vocalists keep me from being interested in the respective bands.

I never was a fan of the "poser grit" sounds used by male vocalists like Chad Kroeger or Daughtry. Not a fan of modern country singers either.
Even if the piano player can't play, keep the party going.

You're gonna hate Handel then ;-)

But yeah, Mariah Carey is my definition of noise - which is a shame as I like some of her tunes, just not her voice

Ugh, the fake overdone twaaaaainnng. The regional accent of no actual part of the South.

If you take out that vocal affectation, the jingoistic, pickup truck-worshipping lyrics, and maybe tone down the steel guitars, most "country" singers have been singing basic pop music for the last 20-30 years. And now with trap beats.

That guy (Ronan Keating) from Boyzone who has a horrible tone and probably hasn't a note in his head. A part of the music machine that needs to be destroyed.
Anyone who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities.

I have no idea who that is, but, boyzone? Do I really need to know any more?
