Cubase's Chord Pads so easy to use.
Just select chords for each box and then you can use the pattern mode for a melody.
I could not play Scalers chords by using one key, went through all the menus and it did not work.
Chord Pads does not need for you to go to you tube and watch a long tutorial.

Which do I select in the performances tab to get one finger chords and right hand melodies working?
And what on earth does Key Lock do? have no Idea lol.
What is the difference between scale notes only and scale notes mapped? Another confusing menu item that goes right over my head.
Chord Extensions? No idea what that is? All it does is show some notes in scaler go green but that's all I can gather from it.No idea what it does.
Voice grouping ??? Another confusing menu item.
As you can see ,I am totally lost with this plugin.
Everything makes no sense.
Just so many options but not alot of practicality.

Now I tried the midi detect function.
It detected the notes but they were not draggable to the pattern editor and are smaller boxes than usual.
Sheesh, need to be Einstein to use this.
I thought you could select the bass in Scaler and drag those notes into a pattern and it would play the different bass sequences but when I tried that ,I got no sound even with the FM8 turned on and record armed.
This plugin is just not practical in use.

There are also some paid courses on Plug-in boutique, and likely many more free videos on YT, that might be useful in understanding Scaler2, and learning how to use it

Pretty much all of your questions are answered by reading the manual, along with all of the youtube videos as others have suggested. Scaler is fairly logical.
It definitely sounds like stepping away from the computer and just 'learning the instrument' may be a better outcome for you anyway, and hopefully fits more with the way you work.
Maybe a daw-less setup would be a better approach for you, and help you create music rather than get caught up in computers.

In Captain Chords, when I select the second beat of the bar to change my chord, the first beat of the bar gets changed.
Also Captain Melody does not sync properly with Cubase at all.
I hit the sync button after stopping Cubase ,then Captain Chords resets properly but after playing ,it moves to different bars.
These plugins are shithouse.
Cubase's Chord pads are the only reliable midi plugin I have found.

Not a tech head but I love learning new instruments.
Might be my only choice,Scaler is more a plugin that tech heads can dig into.
Same with the Captain plugins.
Just don't connect at all.

I am having fun with the Captain plugins.
They all sync with each other which is really great.
Melody Plugin automatically syncs in tune with the Chord plugin.
The only plugin I am having problems with is the Play plugin.
When I play a melody on my Midi KB and stop the recording ,when I drag the midi file, there is nothing on it.

Bought the Scaler 2 course.
A bit worried it is going to be over my head and things brushed over that I want to understand more like what every button does and what they mean.
I really do need someone to help me like a teacher.

Go slow. Be patient with yourself. It is JUST a 'tool'. Determine what (you want/expect) this 'tool' can do for you, in a practical manner, within the limitations of the tool. See what it can do with a portion of a track/tune that you are familiar with. Adjust your expectations to those features/limitations. PLAY WITH IT... adapt your 'process' as you acclimate to its strengths and short comings.[2c]Smasha wrote: Wed Jan 24, 2024 12:39 pm Bought the Scaler 2 course.

It's the music World these days.
Intellectually racist compared to the days when musos like Keith Moon made it.
A much colder, soulless world we live in now full of super smart people who don't give a shit about the dumb.
