I WANT to love it...

Well, there are those ones that were lovable in the beginning until the developer/company pulled some psycho-paranoid change in actions or policy that made it hate worthy. (e.g. Wusik, NI, iZotope...)
As to the subject line, I've never got along with Dexed, Massive, Sylenth, Thorn. And I know there are others, but that's what comes to mind first.

Anything NI. All the UIs are either dated (Kontakt) or weird (Massive X). It's a shame because there are some great concepts hiding behind those really bad UIs.
I'm enticed by all the cool stuff Falcon can do, especially the newest release, but then I see demos of the UI, and know I would hate using it. Same with Diva.
As a Bitwig user, I tried really hard to love Ableton first but couldn't, even thought they are fundamentally very similar.

So, which synths do you love?vitocorleone123 wrote: Tue Jan 23, 2024 8:12 pm A few synths I tried to love and never could
* Diva
* Omnisphere
* Pigments of any version
* Every other synth by Arturia
* Dune
* The Legend
* Obsession
* Oddity 3 (but Axxess is amazing!)
* Vital
Needless to say I'll not bother trying the new Hans Zimmer + Synapse Audio synth, especially since it's modular-ish. Same with the new Pigments.

Every synth plugin that doesn't instantly load a patch. Zebra, Dune,Arturia,Tone2 and others instantly load a patch. Others like Falcon, Avenger, Korg etc. take too long to load a single patch imo.

Not one to stop me from using a synth. ...but it is a drag.

When it comes to wanting to love...For me goes Massive X, gosh i love the sound its one of the best sounding synth, but god i hate the GUI and how slugish the plugin is and how shitty the browser is. I hope whoever designed that gui and the ones who approved got fired.

Aalto is definitely a semi-modular synth and that is indeed a kind of modular. A limited one.
Also, Aalto does not have a fixed signal path. Those virtual cables are the routing. That it's not as flexible as a fully modular synth is what makes it semi-modular.
