No the best synth is the one you don't have but want to buy.

Yes definitely.... For those who prefer it...

Phase Plant is also the best synth on the planet. Also Avenger 2 by the way.

When there is a next favourite synth list thread, just post Pigments 5 as your number one.

p.s. If you just want to get rid of the Macro 1 modulations, there is a little pull-down "v" next to the name, that brings up a menu where you can delete them, mute them or reassign them.
Oh, I totally didn't know that. I've now looked into the manual and found that you can set the default / middle value via hidden setting. But how would you set minimum / maximum?
4) RELATIVE

If off, CC messages reflect absolute finger position within note cell.
If on, a CC value of 64 is sent at first regardless of the position of touch, and subsequent Y-axis movements increase or decrease that value.

Hidden setting: Y-axis Relative Initial value
Hold to set the starting relative value from its default of 64 to any value from 0 to 127. For example, if using Y-axis to add a modulation amount, the Y-axis value at first touch will be zero, then moving your finger forward will increase the value.

You can find the info here:
https://www.rogerlinndesign.com/support ... l-settings

The relevant bit is:
Timbre/Y (column 9)

These settings are related to forward/rearward finger movements, which are limited to the 17 mm depth of each note pad.

1) ON
If on, MIDI messages are sent in response to Y-axis finger movements.
If off, they are not.

Hidden setting: Timbre/Y High/Low Limits
Normally the value sent for Timbre/Y has a range of 0 to 127. However, you can change the low and high limits so that the sent values will be scaled between these limits. To change these range limits, hold the On pad and the screen will display large characters. Swipe up or down to switch between the following two settings, and left or right to edit each setting’s value:

"L 0": the Low Timbre/Y limit, from 0 to 127.
"H127": the High Timbre/Y limit, from 0 to 127.

If these settings are changed from their default values of L 0 and H127, the On pad in the Per-Split Settings screen will be lit in the accent color. Note that if the high limit is lower than the low limit, the output range will be inverted.

No.

I mean, if I buy the preset pack now, would it count into a future V-Collection X purchase in any percentage?
Highly unlikely.

How does the generative sequencer in Pigments compare with the generative midi in Ableton 12 beta? I'll be getting the update to Ableton 12 for free, so I'm wondering whether that will end up being better than the generative sequencer in Pigments. Does the Pigments generative sequencer use generative AI?

Not until they make the analog engine sound better. I think they purposely gimped it because they think it might cannibalize V Collection sales.

Oh give me a break. They did no so such thing, and have no such concern.

Ableton new midi tools offer much more than just a ''generative sequencer''. its also not just for melodic elements but for rythmmical stuff. My guess is ableton's will be more powerful but pigments will be great at creating sequences for it self quickly and efficiently

The Pigments arp/sequencer can also output midi. I'm wondering if there's a simple way to have the sequencer's midi output with an MPE controller to control an MPE synth while using per-Pigments-voice pitchbend/Slide without also sending the notes being played on the controller to the (non-Pigments) MPE synth.

Ok, thanks! That looks very helpful. But I've tried it and the setting works differently than I would have expected from the description. The Y range is not scaled to the low and high limits. Instead it just reduces the Y axis size accordingly. This means that the value changes have still the same scale / ratio, they just stop earlier.

Or is this an issue on my side?
