I'd like to see a better modulation envelope that will show the value of that actual parameter on the envelope.
As an example:
Say you've got an envelope modulating a filter between 500hz and 100hz.
When you put a point on the grid and move it, it should show the value in hz of the filter at that point in the envelope.
If you change the min / max setting in the parameter settings, then of course the value displayed by points in the envelope needs to update as well. Of course i understand that if you have more than one modulator modulating a parameter, this will start to get tricky, but this isn't done that often and you could give a warning message to say that there is another modulator at work, so values won't be accurate.
Also, we need a moving play line in the envelope and custom LFO shape so we can accurately and easily edit while it's being triggered.
I used to think that Melda modulation was amazing, but i have to say it seems to have frozen for many years in terms of development and is kinda due a bit of TLC and a revamp!
Thanks!
Suggestions to improve the modulation system

I don't like bombarding Vojtech with suggestions, but honestly, you do have a good point with this one.Mr D wrote: Tue Jan 30, 2024 2:19 pm

This is actually the reason I turn to Shaperbox when it comes to things like highpass sidechaining (or filtering in general!)
But I know Shaperbox has dedicated mods for filter and res, so it's not really comparable.
So yeah... it does seem like a lot of devs have looked at Melda modulation and have taken steps to build upon that.
I especially like Serum's method of modulating mod nodes and have always wished Melda would bring us something like that, but I guess he never had the time or the inclination.
But if there was one thing I could wish for in the mod system, I reckon it would be your suggestion of giving the graph a frequency readout.
And yeah, the multiple destination thing is tricky, and would be a lot of work, I reckon.
Maybe a tabbed system would work, so you can select from a list of small tabs at the side, when deciding which target you want to work with, but honestly, looking at that from Vojtech's viewpoint, I think that would look like more trouble than it's worth
Or maybe, a way of switching a mod to a special "Single Target" mod, which would automatically give a relevant readout. But I guess that would mean we need more than 4 mods lol.
This actually sounds like the most efficient method to me (as a non-coder), but again, it seems a bit long winded, just to have a correct graphical readout.
Dunno... you are right in saying that it can be confusing as it is, but unless some genius here can give him an easy fix that's easy to implement, I'm not sure what we can expect!
These plugins are multitasking monsters with complexity close to a fking DAW, so I'm happy to think of them as "Done".
Also, I remember years ago, when he was getting a boatload of requests and suggestions (by me also lol), and he was adding things that somehow, inadvertently caused a problem or bug somewhere else in the plugin.
Even as user, I was feeling a bit guilty reporting bugs, because I knew that he was going to have to jump into this tangled jungle of zeroes and ones, to see why such and such a thing stopped working.
And I have a feeling he doesn't want to cut through that jungle again lol.
But yeah, if his team could somehow find a way of dealing with this graphical readout relevance, he would have a lot of happy users, for sure.
