Is Native Access hanging for anyone else? Endlessly loading instruments here.

What version of Native Access are you running?Echoes in the Attic wrote: Sat Feb 03, 2024 5:30 pm Is Native Access hanging for anyone else? Endlessly loading instruments here.
Using NA v3.8.1 here - and just updated Massive about a minute ago - all good. Fast and accurate.
Cheers

I just used it extensively earlier this morning, and although it's convoluted, slow, counter-intuitive, and incorrectly documented in support, it did work for me. However, I found that if I try to load something at this time of day, it feels like I'm on dial-up @19.2k
I have a really fast computer, some good mics, vintage musical instruments, and lots of fancy software. Just need some talent

Wow, there was actually some really nice updates just now for Kontakt and Massive that I never thought I'd see. For ages I used to wish Massive had more parameters automatable like the waveform selector and other things (I htink osc on/off and pitch etc.). And also I always wanted to be able to replace the current instrument by double clicking in Kontakts rack browser rather than have to drag it on top of the existing instruments. Nice quality of life updates there!
Kind of funny though that they're adding automatable parameters to old Massive V1, when Massive X still has no automatable parameters outside the macros! I'm guessing they will open up the automation on Massive X eventually.

lack of a simple user tagging system holds Kontakt back quite a bit. Given how many great libraries there are it would be very handy to be able to right click on a loaded instrument and add a tag to it

They're both. No idea why you think it's an either/or (or why you think NI is the final word on those terms)-? As an analogy: if I went to a web site about apples and they went on and on about their fruit, and how they have the best fruit, and apples are such great fruit...but never once call it "food"....does that mean apples aren't food?machinesworking wrote: Fri Feb 02, 2024 11:35 pm You're the one saying the instruments in Kontakt are plugins right? because that, is all I'm commenting on here. They aren't plugins, they're instruments as per NI's nomenclature.
"Plugin" similarly is a broad term which applies to VIs, libraries, sample players, basically any such thing that you access from your DAW ("plugged into" the DAW, hence the name). The same terminology goes for apps which have nothing necessarily to do with audio production, like plugins for browsers.
Anyway, enough on this. Thanks for at least discussing it reasonably, though we disagree.

It's been broken since the last update for me ...Echoes in the Attic wrote: Sat Feb 03, 2024 5:30 pm Is Native Access hanging for anyone else? Endlessly loading instruments here.
EDIT: I had to re-install v.1.14.1 to get it workin again.

I was curious about Native Access...it fired right up for me. Also interesting, I'm running v1.14. ! I thought it forced updates on you? I know it used to.
Also not surprised that it got worse in later versions. Classic NI.

Because they own Kontakt, it's their product to name.mixyguy2 wrote: Sun Feb 04, 2024 1:48 am They're both. No idea why you think it's an either/or (or why you think NI is the final word on those terms)-?
I can't find a single reference anywhere to any sampler calling the audio files made into an instrument you load into them, anything but Instruments or libraries, or soundbanks etc. Not one instance where they call them plugins.
It's not any real skin off your back, and it is confusing how little unified naming conventions there are in the audio world, so not even anything to be ashamed about, but you're wrong here, that's all.

Lol. I like that you've gone and researched what is one of the more inane debates I've read on KVR.machinesworking wrote: Sun Feb 04, 2024 3:36 amBecause they own Kontakt, it's their product to name.mixyguy2 wrote: Sun Feb 04, 2024 1:48 am They're both.
