If anything, I'd buy:
Full accurate emulation of Ensoniq Fizmo, MR/ZR, TS12 and DP4+.
Full accurate emulation of E-MU Proteus 2500 with all the ROM-s. Fortunately the Emulator X3 still works but its interface is rather small on modern day screens.
Full accurate emulation of Yamaha FSR1.

That's pretty much all the things I still would care about.
I love that list and agree wholeheartedly. Although not a full acurate emulation of the Fizmo, this could be right up your alley:

Weird mindset.

PA offer some incredible plug ins from a bunch of different developers. Some of these are also absolute bargains.

This is incredible value and really not worthless at all.
its not only that but lack of oversampling, presence of aliasing.. there are a few nice plugins maybe -- but nothing that could not be substituted imo :ud:
Oversamling is overrated.

Depends I'd say. Comes in handy with non-linearity IF aliasing is a concern.
PA sales strategy puts me off. It's a slightly better Waves FWIW. I use what I bougth years ago from them. However, my main argument would be that still all of it is reproducable with other tools.

Regarding emulations of real gear (which i was fond of before): I now think that the overall concepts of legendary tools should be replicated with digital sound processing in mind without any compromises; which an exact emulation of analog circuits might introduce in the world of DSP. I want tools with no tradeoffs.

Summed up the sales and marketing strategy, (sometimes) questionable quality and generacity in concepts puts me towards developers who are not afraid to jump off the emulation bandwagon -- in favor of more overall concepts applied the right way.

Rice, pasta, taters and onions have greatly improved my in-the-box acoustics.
I think they give off good reverberations.

Same here. I’ve had quite enough of that whole deal, as of some time ago.

Considered spending money on another DAW, but even that just isn’t appealing enough..

See now, I really like Ozone, but, I agree that updates aren't really necessary.
