Really like it, I think it makes my brain work differently - it's like Harrison Mixbus that way.
I''m sorely tempted to buy the extensions - but the native plugin bundles are on sale too and the Signature bundle has almost all the Luna stuff plus a lot more - but not IMO the best Luna stuff (console, summing, or Ampex).
The console is purely workflow as the identical API channel strip is in Signature. Though it is slick!
The Ampex could no doubt be approximated with something else.
Does anyone know exactly what the summing add-on is doing? Is it just adding a tiny bit of analog / character to each channel before adding them together?
Better check that the extensions are available if you buy the SIgnature bundle. At this point, I can’t remember!

It’s not a summing add-on… Think of any Daw, where multiple tracks are routed to the same destination. For example, in Live, there are only summing tracks when using Groups. Any master track is a summed track. The extensions are just UA designated analog emulations that are allowed to be placed on those summed tracks.

It’s an arbitrary restriction that forces you to mix a certain way.

I’m not saying it’s bad. I bought the extensions, but in the greater scheme of things… the sound result can be replicated elsewhere. You use LUNA because you like the workflow and the inline console like access to parameters.

LUNA has been machine authorization since November.

You previously stated you're able to work offline without an iLok. AFAIK, the only UA native software this is possible with are the LA-2A and PolyMAX.

Mm.. i Just use luna offline. I have the software iLok not the device. Never used polymax (never installed, dunno LA-2A honestly can't recall this name).

Interesting...and weird. I'm not able to use Luna offline but maybe that's because I have a bunch of UA plugins that require the cloud.

Basically I use Luna "naked". I have like 2 UA plug-in free and I just uninstalled and disabled the paid ones (I just made the demo expire).
Seriously until today I never thought this as a weird thing I was just doing it LMAO

Check your iLok account. LUNA now should show iLok2 dongle and machine authorization, and no cloud. It should have switched for everyone, I would think. But iLok is weird. Maybe it's only for registrations on November 9, 2023 and later. I have some Slate plugins that are still iLok only even though machine authorization was added later.

My Polymax licenses are still cloud, no machine auth, though. So it may depend on what the authorization was when you got your license. You could probably contact UAD support and get it switched over, if it hasn't been.

Mm why? I like things the way they are. It works perfectly offline and online. I'm super fine :)

That's cool. It's still Cloud for me but that's OK. It's pointless for me to have it be machine authorized until all the plugins are also machine authorized.

He's talking about me. It appears that you and I have different kinds of authorizations. Mine does not work offline.

Let me know if I can help anyway.
If you need me to check something on my DAW I'll be glad to help.

Has anyone made the switch from Logic to Luna?
The free option seems now a lot interesting...

Good to hear. Do you think it could be suitable for lofi music (mainly played)? What makes you prefer it to logic?

I'm an ex protools operator. Luna Is "home" for me. I have always thought to Logic as an overcomplicate software for no reason.
With Luna you can do anything like any other sequncer in my opinion. There is this narrative going on about free software less good than paid ones, this is not the case IMHO.

Let's put this way: I have 2 machines, one equipped with PT and one with LUNA. I use the second.

PS i do metal and as composer i play my instruments I do almost nothing via midi except for drums. So maybe if you are that kind of "midi-ish" composer you'd prefer something more midi oriented like Cubase. :)
