Hi,

am using the MDynamicsEQ regularly. It's such a good EQ... Only when it comes to mid/side/left/right precise processing, the Melda EQs seem to fall behind all the others. Let me explain what I mean by that:

# Precise panning per band
Currently within a band, you only have a switch between left, both and right. Why this is not a knob? I think this would be much more precise. Is there a technical reason behind this? To save cpu maybe? Or to stay compatible with surround?

# Mid/Side and Left/Right
When it comes to eqing, I think the Melda concept of having a global left/right mid/side switch per plugin bites with practical eqing. Having this switch per band would make the work with it more comfortable, in my opinion. Why not still adding this switch per band, too? If you then were in global mid/side mode, and then also the band was switched to mid/side, the button now could display "left/right" instead.

# More bands
Always wondering why the Melda EQs are limited in bands... You can resize the eq like you want, and I think people would prefer to only use one instance as eq only.

Thanks, please let me know what you do think about these...

Makes sense to me. I use MADEQ as my go-to but there's always room for improvement. My biggest gripe is that I regularly grab the Q handles on the pucks by accident when moving nearby bands. I don't know how to improve that though, maybe other than to hide them and only display them on mouseover. That idea about a continuous pan function is novel but having access to both LR and MS in one instance, plus more bands, would make something like MADEQ more competitive in the evolving EQ marketplace.

Some requests may be welcome, but i fear it break backward compatibility, that is way more important to me.

For backward compatibility maybe a version 2.

I agree with you, but there are some problems, the actual GUI would be the most problematic for more bands, if you have 20 bands showing under the graph it's a mess.
Vojtech already said it has more than enough bands in another post.
I think the mid/side l/r would mean an overall redoing of programming the plugins.

Problems I have with the EQ, sometimes the bands stuck to the mouse cursor, when doing a left right click in combination. Is that a feature or a bug? But it's strange to me. Cause before I can move a band a help pop up window opens after right click inside the GUI. This must be closed first and afterwards the bands sticks to the mouse cursor. Using studio One.

1. Precise panning doesn't make much sense - it controls which channels are processed, not "how much", which is something really difficult or impossible to do. It could be simulated the same way as dry/wet but only for some filters and the amount of dev work needed would be huge, so that's a no.

2. Mid/side could perhaps be implemented, but it's not that simple in the existing engine, I'll think about it.

3. There would be many backwards compatibility issues with this and honestly I believe that if you run out of bands (meaning 7), then you should perhaps start over :). People like to overdo things, but it only makes trhings worse..
