I voted, did not have much time for commenting though. Great round though I wondered about the choice of synth of some. You had the chance to use your best, powerful and great synth but...
Anyway, it was a pleasure to listen.
Regards.

I voted, glad there were so many submissions this month, always love listening to it all.

I have voted.

I've voted after listening to each track at least three times and leaving comments for all participants. I averaged my opinions in the subcategories of sound design, musical composition/arrangement/performance, quality of mix, and originality/creativity.

I recognize many of the names from previous OSC competitions, and everyone seems to have gotten a lot better! This month's OSC was demanding time-wise but especially rewarding due to the high quality of the music created and the comments shared.

But yes, there's something weird about Soundcloud deleting comments now. They seem to be using some sort of AI filter that isn't fit for purpose. My comment about a particular French pioneer's music was deleted several times -- specifically, I stated the JMJ's Equinoxe "was the first music that transported me to another world" and it kept getting deleted. I did some tests of the individual words, and anything with "transported" was deleted, so my guess is that the AI is looking for variations of "trafficking" and is too stupid to consider context.

i don't understand this sentiment at all. surely the main point of this whole thing is the challenge of working within restrictions? if you prefer creating your music without restrictions, why would you even participate? you have the chance to use your favorite synth every day, you don't need a challenge for that. :)

of course, most choices will be less than optimal if strictly playing to win, which is not what most people are doing here.

done voting now.

I don't care much about the challenge aspect of this. A single synth isn't much of a challenge/restriction anyway. Can be harder to get various synths to fit together very well. Frankly trying to decide which ones of the hundreds to use may be the hardest part. Mostly it's just nice to have others listen to my music who have decent discernment. IRL nobody cares anyway.

I chose the System-1 plugin because I have the hardware keyboard to control it. Figured it would make sound design faster. In hindsight, I should have chosen System-8 since it has built-in chorus, I just didn’t know about the no external chorus rule when I started. But that did show me I use chorus as a crutch unnecessarily, so that was good.

I think everyone has their own reason for picking a synth. I had just bought Hive2 for Black Friday but hadn't had time to really work with it. OSC forced me to do my initial dive (so much left because it is very deep).

At the same time, as a new guy, I'd love to have a simple subtractive synth round with Tyrell or TAL-Noizemaker where the point is basic sound design.

I picked the JP6K because I'm weirdly obsessed with supersaws. Isn't KVR the right place for this??

Very hard to made in synth. :)

Voted. Any Synth Challenges are actually a bit hard to vote on, since "sound design" is one of my voting categories and usually I know what the Synth of the Month is capable of and how hard it is to program etc. As usual a lot of great tracks everyone!
