wave alchemy wrote: Fri Feb 16, 2024 2:46 pm We have around 715 well made patterns within Triaz across 18 genres with tagging already. We plan to add kit locking at some point, so that you can lock the kit and sound parameters and change, randomize, browse presets (patterns) via genre tagging etc. That will give you exactly what you asked.

The reason why we don't offer a pattern browser is because the channels are fully modular. So, say you made a beat that has a kick on channel 3, and snare on channel; 4, then you loaded a pattern that had the Kick on channel 1, and snare on 4, its going to sound wrong, and you'd be better off simply using the sequencer randomization features we will be adding which will be far more powerful and useful :tu:

The other option would have been to fix the channels like some drum machines do, and not have them modular, so kick is always channel 1, perc on 2, snare on 3 etc. But I personally hate that type of design and it vastly limits the plugin potential in many other areas :D
Just an idea here, taken from how Atlas 2 does it: Since how the channels are assigned changes from kit to kit, you could extract the pattern per channel, based on which type of sound it was assigned with. Then you could offer (maybe first just via random) adding the sound corresponding pattern per channel.

For the entire kit it will be difficult, but I did notice that the Triaz Kits have an underlying, somewhat stable kit pattern. E.g. kick, HH Open, HH Closed, Crash, Ride, Tom, Clap, Snare are somewhat "stable" in how they are assigned.

Btw. I'm really glad about this, because I play Triaz with pad controllers (Maschine Mk3 and Yamaha FGDP-50), which works quite well. I was a bit surprised that this isn't documented (e.g. in the Manual), as I think new kits / presets would greatly benefit from sticking to this "default layout" as far as it makes sense.

oh shit consider me interested. The sequencer looks really intuitive and fun

Sure, many of the Factory presets adhere to some kind of stable kit order, but certainly not all. See percussion loops for example - 12 percussion drums or more esoteric styles.

Yes, you hit the nail on the head too with your idea. This is a simplified version of what we are planning to do. It will be better than this though. And full kit randomization will also work.

This is what I meant in the previous post about not really needing a pattern browser, since the idea we have will mean it is really not needed :tu:

715 isn’t s huge library if you devide it by different genres, bpms and time signatures - plus separate parts (intro, verse, 8bar, fills, outro).
I underline the imagination of the different patters, time signatures, polyrhytm etc.

If the machine can play GM files, the user could use the existing groove libraties.

Think about the above.

Wow, nice to hear. Now you got me curious of what you'll come up with - will wait for it :)

But if you're looking for a typical groove library across many styles, I wonder if it would be better to just buy some varied MIDI Drum packs and do some mapping manually or semi-automated into the Triaz conventions.

I doubt it would be hard at all for us to make a pattern browser, it just simply wouldn't be very useful in practice after looking into this previously. Sure you'd get some decent stuff out of it, but the smart pattern randomization we have in mind would be far more efficient, and work and sound good almost every time.

We'll also be creating preset / sound expansions and more.

Additionally, you can easily record MIDI files into Triaz already and it will even keep the unquantized timing if you want it to. Right click the record icon, enable 'start recording on note input', and then play in your MIDI files :tu:

You get a metronome there too. All the presets I personally made for the factory library I played in the patterns live with MIDI keyboard using the features we have, since it will keep the humanized groove so long as 'quantize to grid' is turned off in the same menu.

Why? I can’t get it - for me the grooves/fills organized by genres, bpm and different time signatures is even more important than the library of good sounds.

I’m not that keen in creating grooves (or beats, whatever you call those) by scratch with the sequencer. Using sequencer fits somtimes to my workflow, e.g. in refining existing grooves. And randomizing may work sometimes, but its too slow and ”random” way to get the groove I’m looking after.

And really love using different time signatures, polyrhytmic patterns etc.

I wish that the developer had motivation to include a really massive, well-organized groove library to the Triaz.
Classic spin. He's not keen on creating the content himself but wishes someone else do it for him. Not only that he implies that the developer hasn't had motivation even after the fact tremendous product such as Triaz has just been released. A product that demanded more than a year of development. How disrespectful.

As if you purchase a Lamborghini and then you complain that the car is bad because the color of the keys is not in the tone that you wanted them to be.

Well if the product does not work for you - find another

Drumvolution you can import now very easily (likewise with any 3rd party sample pack from us or Splice etc) . Revolution will be a separate native plugin, with 42 new drum machine emulations. The reason being that uses very complex mappings, and thousands of samples for round robin, velocity, and controls from the original machines. It deserves a separate engine where we can also release drum machine expansions.
So awesome!! Can't wait for Revolution - Native. Huge fan. Any ETA? Like Q3 or another year or?

Gonna try Triaz over the weekend. So far videos seem very impressive.

Edit- deleting folders in the file system does it.

Only wish is that you could link sample folders rather than have to copy them in top the Triaz user folder...
Have you tried Symbolic links?

Wow, such a fantastic plugin. I can't believe I got it for free. I'll happily pay an upgrade fee for Revolution, once that one gets a native release.

Thanks WA guys, for designing such fantastic stuff and being so generous.

I havent, but so much new content to explore right now I may wait and see if its added natively (it sounds like it will be) as I would have a lot to link!
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

This kind of comment seems to be expected evry time when question about presets any form is discussed
For kmonkey kind of people seem to be overwhelming to understand, that there are different kind of users. Its kind of facistic attitude not to allow differencies.
Some people like to build every note of their beats by scratch - let them fo that, thats why there are sequencers.
But then there are people who will use presets/grooves etc. as a basis.
Let them have their way - and they can put that on the developer wishlist.

And the above kmonkey comparision to the color of Lamborgihini just reflects pure stupidity.

I second this request, I'm a fan of the Drumvolution presets and would like to have them available in Triaz.

Thanks for your reply! It's really fun to record into the sequencer!

I wonder - could we also have a "Quantize by %" (or Quantize 50%) feature which you can also trigger via MIDI CC? That way you can record without quantize to grid, but then still make it a bit more aligned. This usually gives a nice compromise between keeping some "feel" in, and making it a bit more to the grid.

Another thing I notices (but not sure if it makes sense). If you have record armed, but play is off, the sequencer stops at the first column. It's still possible now to record in some MIDI input, but not to switch to the next "column". I tried to use the arrow right / left keys, but they were't moving the beat along. Maybe that could be nice for people who want to punch in notes more like you do with a "tracker" (I imagine). Just an idea, not sure I'd use it as I like to play in while live looping.
