Zebralette 3 Bug Reports

I’m on a m1 MacBook Air using FL Studio and the Au plugin. Some of the presets use a crazy amount of processing power. It seems the spectral effects, especially spectral decay are very resource intensive, which is to be expected but they are almost unusable currently

Randomly when loading zebralette 3 it crashes or sometimes when I close the vst window and come back to it, it will randomly crash. Well it says it crashes, it will still let me make sound but some things don't work like editing points for the oscillator or mseg.

I tried the preset "Minty Breath" and I get a DC detected stop on my RME interface when I play a three note chord. When producing sound, very low frequencies are produced that are not audible, but you can clearly see them on an equalizer. With a lowcut filter behind, there are no problems.

I'm curious where you see the DC detected stop. I tried it out and saw nothing suspicious. Not exactly the same setup but close enough I thought I'd try.schraube wrote: Sat Feb 17, 2024 10:01 pm I tried the preset "Minty Breath" and I get a DC detected stop on my RME interface when I play a three note chord. Am I doing something wrong? This can't be right.
Opened up Zebra3, set the init Saw with Phase reset + Additive engine.
Opening any wave viewer (I use FL's wavecandy), you can see that there is moving inharmonic phase rotation. In otherwords, the phase of the sines are moving slightly out of tune. This doesn't impact the timbre, but it impacts the polarity of the wave can thus can cause problems with mixing.
Attachments shown have the same timbre but the waveforms are changing over time.
No other additive synth does this

immediate crash when...:
open logic
insert zebralette3
open window
ctrl-click (trackpad 2finger-click) into the OSC wave window
select "copy" or "copySVG" from the pulldownmenu
bang - imediate complete crash
that's a mac mini 2012, mojave, 16GB ram
logic 10.5.1
and the same with hostingAU
and the same happens in the big OSC editor window
and the same for the MSEG editor (and big editor window)
system crashreports and u-he-log are saved in case of interest

Did you use the beautify command? That has happened to me when using it.tumface wrote: Sun Feb 18, 2024 1:13 am I'm not sure exactly what I did, but it has greatly angered Descartes.

Tried again this morning and couldn't reproduce the DC Detected error again. I forgot to mention that it wasn't the standard preset that caused problems, but rather when I changed the envelope on the OSC. However, very low frequencies that caused the crashes yesterday are still being caused.GruvSyco wrote: Sat Feb 17, 2024 10:23 pmI'm curious where you see the DC detected stop. Yep, GUI glitches on Windows are currently expected, mentioned in the known issues and the first post. We already tried to fix those, but it wasn't as easy as we hoped to get rid of them.Ronny Pries wrote: Sat Feb 17, 2024 9:48 pm Can confirm static UI glitches in both matrix and keyboard:

Unpredictable wt engine CPU consumption
I wasn't yet able to reliably reproduce how I arrived at this patch.
It seems that single cycle waveforms of different lenghts have different impacts on CPU use. Contrarily to my expectation, the shorter the cycles, the more irratic the CPU becomes. At some point, even at a resolution of 200hz.
On my machine, playing above patch with a 5 voice chord, exceeds my CPU. Iirc, it's using two cycles of 128 samples:

Replacing the cycles with longer one's (eg 2048 samples), the CPU slightly drops:

Outside the patch's context, the CPU use also varies with cycle length. I already froze the plugin using init patch whilst playing a 5 voice chord sequence. And consecutively importing two cycles of different lengths. I'll report back if I discover a reliable reproduction pattern. (Memory leak?)
Here's a zip with the patch and a few cycles for testing.

Using the HandleRotate tool pushed the line outside of the grid. Not sure if it's a bug?
Edit - it's a known issue
