yeah TAL synths have a pressure in the sound, like HW to me. Love the whole bunch!

Yes. Actually the only analog synth I ever played myself.himalaya wrote: Sun Feb 18, 2024 12:12 amThe Jupiter-8 cold sounding? I've never heard that opinion before. Have you ever played a real Jupiter-8?chk071 wrote: Sat Feb 17, 2024 11:09 pm"Inferior" is pretty subjective. I always thought the Jupiter-8 is a pretty cold sounding analog synth.himalaya wrote: Sat Feb 17, 2024 10:52 pm It would be a little weird to model the JX-8P immediately after the Jupiter-8 emulation, since the JX-8P is really an inferior synth compared to the Jupiter-8.

I've yet to see or hear any official explanation for what's going on under the hood, despite a few good links in this thread about how DCOs work, and the history of the Juno series. There's two possibilties - either it's all maths and trickery of a single oscillator, or there are 2 (3 including the sub) bone fide oscillators that get combined under a single set of master controls. Would be curious to know - if anyone can post a link to anything definitive it would be interesting.BONES wrote: Sun Feb 18, 2024 1:22 amIt's just that you can't set the level for each of the two main osc separately, which is why I stupidly assumed there was just one osc. But watching that guy use it, it is clear there are two.

What do you think makes the Alpha Juno 2 so enticing warranting an emulation when TAL already has the Jupiter-8, or the Juno-60 covered? They're all different synths, aren't they?himalaya wrote: Sun Feb 18, 2024 12:12 am What do you think makes the JX8P so enticing warranting an emulation, when the Jupiter-8 is already recreated by Tal?

JX-8P has the best string pads of any Roland synth. It is known for being the King of Strings.
Not the Jupiter. Not the Juno. The JX-8P.

Still a bit buggy. It doesn't respond to live changes in tempo and only resyncs when you restart DAW transport.phreaque wrote: Sun Feb 18, 2024 4:17 amKnown bug and it is fixed.mholloway wrote: Sun Feb 18, 2024 3:49 amSame here. It's definitely buggy.Vortifex wrote: Sat Feb 17, 2024 10:53 pm Just me or is the delay sync not working properly? Most of the time it just kind of does its own thing. It'll speed up or slow down with the DAW, but won't actually be in sync. This is with spread at 0.
Download version 1.0.3
Also some of the timings are wrong. Dotted eighth note is wrong, and the dotted quarter note is actually a dotted eighth. And I don't like how the delay phases in mono when spread is at 0. Probably just use a third party delay instead.

calling a JP8 cold, lol, lmao even....
Strings you can make on any synth with a AR env.
Brass you do with a rompler, EZ
How about a SHS5/7 next?
Don't need Final Countdown strings, I am not a poser.

I've already answered this question in my first and very long post.chk071 wrote: Sun Feb 18, 2024 9:26 amWhat do you think makes the Alpha Juno 2 so enticing warranting an emulation when TAL already has the Jupiter-8, or the Juno-60 covered? The Juno-2 provides a true alternative sound to the Jupiter-8, Juno-6/60, and Sh101. It does it with the addition of those extra and unique waveforms. The way the sound can be sculpted with the multi-stage envelope opens up new possibilities not possible with the other synths.
While JX8P really does not provide any thing of note that is better or different to the Jupiter-8, in my opinion. It's more of the same but in a less exciting package.
And why should Tal have Jupiter-8 and Juno-60 emulated, shouldn't one suffice? These are truly iconic synths, with different workflows. The JX8P isn't.
But then, who knows? Maybe Patrick is planning to recreate the JX8P. I don't know.

My take is waveshaping circuits are used with a single oscillator. This could be DCO or VCO (e.g. SH-101 with single VCO mixes different waves). Maybe some relevant info in here...noiseboyuk wrote: Sun Feb 18, 2024 9:26 am I've yet to see or hear any official explanation for what's going on under the hood, despite a few good links in this thread about how DCOs work, and the history of the Juno series. *edit. Although I'm not sure this explains wave detune in TAL-Pha, so TAL maybe implementing a different design in software.
