What you can do is draw a regular curve with shapes and then copy paste it as a guide. But if you can do that, why not just have shapes available for guides in the first place?centipus wrote: Sun Feb 18, 2024 1:48 pm The synth is incredible. Can hardly wait for the full Z3 experience!
Agree with basically all these comments about guide curves. First thing I did when I wanted to edit a guide curve was to try to pull up the shape stamp brushes and quickly paint a simple guide curve. The shape tools are unavailable for guide curve editing?

The on/off buttons in the mod matrix looks like a record button with the red dot. At first, I did not understand what they do because of that.
I suggest a different color than red for the dot in the button.

I have the same problems as with the mod matrix in Hive.
Sometimes it take some time to find the parameter which is modulated.
What about a highlight or indicator at the parameter that is modulated when you hover over a parameter in the mod matrix?

I'd love if someone could help me understand what Urs did in that video because I can't replicate that beautiful sound.
- I know this is the old GUI but why can we see a square shape left and a line right, but we can see that user-drawn spline on screen? confuses me as to where to draw the spline and how to morph
- what would be the other settings as unfortunately we can't see the main page
, I assume wavetable renderer, Curve Geometry?
Maybe also have a pair of arrows for each blue menu so can easily browse between options.
For the spline editor I found if there are two points at zero, I cannot curve the line then double click to add a point in between as I figured it normally works. I have to raise one point, curve, double click, lower point again.

In terms of UX I saw already mentioned being able to left-right swap OSC FX.

Just double click in the open area where you want the point added.paramita123 wrote: Mon Feb 19, 2024 2:58 am

Precisely, it doesn't work, for me at least.pdxindy wrote: Mon Feb 19, 2024 3:26 am

Whether in the small or big editor, to add a point I first have to drag to make a curve, then I can double click. But if I have two points at the bottom, then no curve can be added and no point either with double-clicking.
Tiny annoyance really, I can deal with that, but I think it's part of the smoothing of the UX that can be achieved.
Having used After Effects and Cinema 4D a lot I'm used to spline editing but here this isn't as smooth as it could be. I love C4D spline editing controls, a magnificent software from Maxon, also from Germany
Maybe Urs will get inspired by C4D MoGraph system and its Effectors, it's truly remarkable 3D tech that could be transposed to music synthesis.

About Guide Curves and their visibility:
We did the editor long before we knew that Guide Curves would play a major role in the synthesis model. At the time we simply thought of them as helpers to edit curves, no more no less. As this has changes since, we will certainly make them more visible and easier to access.

Some years back, I used to be a demo artist for C4D at trade shows. It was fun!paramita123 wrote: Mon Feb 19, 2024 3:41 am Having used After Effects and Cinema 4D a lot I'm used to spline editing but here this isn't as smooth as it could be.
Keep making suggestions for improving the spline editor. And yeah, double click anywhere off the curve should add a point. Weird bug you have.

I now finally understand to add a point we should double click OFF the curve, not on it
The spline editor works pretty well imo, I think if there was a preset menu with preset shapes it would be cool to help get started.

The double-click off curve is an ongoing discussion.
I absolutely like to click the curve to straighten it. Particularly in the MSEG editor. We would have to sacrifice that if double click on the curve added a point.
There's also option-click (on Mac, I guess it's ctrl-click on Win) which adds a point directly and which could also be made into a tool to cut the curve.
In the long run we might offer some customisation here. We won't do this quickly because if everybody has their own settings, it'll be hard to discuss these kinds of topics.
