I'm playing with Arturia's very cool Efx Refract (https://www.arturia.com/products/softwa ... t/overview -- I grabbed it when offered for free around the new year) and running into automation frustration. I connected an automation track to an identified automatable parameter (Distortion drive level). With the plugin window open, if I drag the automation curve up and down, the Drive level control responds accordingly. But if I add points and create an automation curve nothing changes during playback. I also tried recording the automation by manipulating the Drive control directly with the same result: a curve is recorded, I can see it, but it does nothing to the effect during playback.
I'm a bit rusty and my automation skills were never highly developed, but it seems like this ought to be easy. Am I overlooking something obvious?
Automation Frustration: records but doesn't affect playback

Hard to say--I just ran a test and it worked perfectly for me.
Here's what I did.
1. Drag a synth plug in onto the track
2. Put Refract behind it, so the synth feeds it a sound.
3. Click on the + sign to the left of the plugin area and select "Add an empty automation track."
4. On the new track that appears, drag the A button (above the + sign left to the plugin area) onto the Refract plugin.
5. Select "Distortion Drive Amount" from the flyout menu that appears.
6. A blue line appears in the new track.
7. Click a few points on the blue line and drag them up and down.
8. I then added a MIDI clip into this general area and put in some notes to play on the synth plugin.
9. I opened Refract and clicked the BYPASS area.
10. I cycled through until I found DISTORTION
I played the clip and the distortion level went up and down as automated.

Thanks, both. You've given me things to try when I get back to it.

That was exactly it. Thanks.pough wrote: Mon Feb 19, 2024 3:27 am It's possible that you have at some point pressed the letter H and turned off Automation Read.
