Nice post, Dubwise. But to get everything in perspective let's not forget that for the price of Nuendo 3 you could buy a copy of Tracktion, a good soundcard, a whole bagful of plugins...
...and a nice computer to run it all on.

What do you mean by "another monitor"? Please forgive me if this is really obvious.Lunch Money wrote:Even better, drag the plug-ins you're working with into another monitor and "lock" them.

Nah, it's not all that obvious. Forgive ME for taking things for granted.
Many people use 2 video monitors for their DAW. Now, unless your video card can spoof 2 monitors as one (mine can!), Tracktion will only appear in one of the 2 monitors. Even though my card will allow me to stretch across 2, I stick to 1 anyhow. So, when I'm working on stuff, I use my left video monitor for Tracktion, and drag plug-ins over to the right video monitor and press the "lock" button. That means that I'm getting at least a bit of dual-monitor functionality with a one-monitor app.
To use 2 monitors, you need either a dual-head video card or a combination of PCI/AGP cards. Windows 2K and XP will happily accomodate multiple video cards, though having 1 'dual-head' card is still handier.
