It's in there, but it's still very much work in progress and experimental. E.g. there are no limits to the allowed file size yet, so it might simply stall or crash if you try to analyse a long recording. Try to keep the files to a somewhat reasonable size, like a few seconds, not a few minutes.
Huh... strange... I tried dragging over a random kick drum and a snare drum sample I had lying around -- should have worked.

tasmaniandevil wrote: Thu Feb 22, 2024 7:41 amOpen the big spline editor, then drag a wave file onto it and it should get imported unless there are permission issues. On Windows you cannot drag and drop between applications with different permission levels (e.g. if Windows explorer runs on regular user permissions but Cubase was started explicitly using admin permissions).
I actually tried several routes:

1) drag from a file manager (Windows Explorer, TotalCommander) on to Cubase -- nothing. I run my profiles as admin, but I can try again by forcing both Cubase and either file manager into "run as admin"

2) I tried dragging from the Cubase Media Pool - nothing

3) I dragged/dropped the file into the Cubase project as audio track. Then i dragged that audio event into Zebralette - nothing.

Again, all the same samples as mentioned above. The samples themselves were 44/16 (direct drag and drop). After importing into the Cubase project (audio track) the samples were 48/24... I run Zebralette 3 in 48kHz currently.

Maybe this is related?

I can try again later and report back.
If it's not working, I just wait for another revision.

Could you make so I can choose directory of installation for where the vst should end up? Not everyone wants their vsts to end up in "C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3"

Please contact Steinberg if you want to be able to choose a custom location for the VST3 plugin.
They set this location as the predetermined standard in the VST3 documentation, and that's what we adhere to:

Doesn't matter what you want, steinberg have set that to be the vst3 file installation location.
It does make life simpler for daw and vst devs for there to be a known vst3 location, one less reason for loads of support calls from users complaining that their daw cant find their new vst.
You can move the folder and contents somewhere else and then link the 2 locations but if you are not computer savvy, you risk screwing everything up.
Good luck.
Mac mini m4 pro, Reaper, too many plugins, Modal Argon8, Novation Circuit Mono Station and now a lovely Waldorf Blofeld.

This might seem abnormal if you're used to synths with busier GUIs, but it's conventional for U-he plug-ins. I think animations like that wouldn't scale well with complexity. I can imagine the busy chaos of an advanced Bazille patch, for example.

Fair enough - but you can see the waveform moving around and changing ;)

Chris-S wrote: Wed Feb 21, 2024 4:51 pm I was not able to get a perfect fixed freq tone because the keyfollow modulator seems not to be linear.
Keyfollow at -133.33 in the matrix works fine to flatten pitch (i.e. that .33 matters).
It works up to F7 or F8 (depending on transpose) and then breaks... :D

Hello, how do you set up properly a midi cc on a preset ? I've found the menu for this, but I may be mistaking, I don't find how to get the aftertouch on my Expressive-e Osmose keyboard to control any parameter...
Is it MPE compatible ?

Aftertouch can be assigned through the mod matrix, it's a modulation source called Pressure.
MPE support is not fully implemented yet, as mentioned in the known issues in the bug report thread.

Yes, because that's literally thousands of data points, and the whole purpose of the editor and plug-in :)

Thing is, I've never been a fan of "balls in orbit of knobs" and such concepts. I think they don't say much at all when needed (fast modulation -> hectic dots chasing their tails) and when they say something, they're usually not needed (slow modulation -> geostationary orbit in static motion).

I also believe in human brains; they were able to program DX-7s back in the days. Not that I wish that on anyone, chess seems easy in comparison, and I experience the attention-depleting effects of contemporary everyday gadgets myself. Hence, we don't ever do "endless possibilities", we try to keep a balance between complex and manageable. And we try to educate - pick up people from where they are, take them onto a journey into deeper space. Which is why Zebralette is here.

But then, we are (I am) slowly shifting from the paradigm of "modulation on target" to "source - matrix - target". It seems that Hive struck a nerve with us (me), and being able to visualise modulation in such depth as with its oscilloscope has made the experience quite something. That, and the visualisation of modulation depths on the target itself.

So, we are aware of what people ask for and why. But I also don't see us overload the UI with blistering amounts of animated stuff. But we do have a few projects and ideas going that may refine that balance between complexity and usability.

Hi Urs, well you're the boss! ;)
I was just asking because when I hear a preset, on any synth, and I'm trying to figure out why it's doing what it's doing - it can be helpful to see what parameter is being modulated, and what is modulating it.
Of course the mod matrix is just as good a place to see this.

Anyway - I was just wondering if what I'd seen was intentional. I'm certainly not arguing for UI enhancements ;)

I'm also saying, I'm sure we can improve things :) - Like, in Hive one can click the modulator elements to see the ModMatrix assignments, and that is missing here. Maybe because there are only few slots. But maybe in that case all assignment indicators can be visible at all time.

Had a fiddle on a laptop. No real issues.

Getting lots of stuck notes while playing longish (greater than an 8th) notes on the onscreen keyboard.

Edit: was triggering "hold" mode by double clicking on the keyboard every few notes.
