I think it comes down to the fact that I found a better solution for the things I used to use it for - JP6K does "Wasp" basslines better and is also quite useful for string pads/leads - and I never bothered to think about what else it might be good for. I need to be less slack, mostly, and take the time to reacquaint myself with it.Tj Shredder wrote: Mon Apr 25, 2022 6:15 amYou have too many usable synths with a similar architecture… To stick to one of them is sufficient when creating your own sounds. The others still can remain as preset machines…

My plugin collection is a museum - from time to time I walk through it and fire up one of my million synths and noodle for a minute and walk on…
I don‘t mind having too many…

It's not like they take up space or gather dust. And we need to keep the old ones around so we can keep playing old songs live.

It's probably been a couple of years, but the developer told me that he was working on a much more ambitious synth (and those are my words) that would be like a big brother to ArcSyn - again my words, because I can't really remember what he said. You can really get lost in the lfo modulation - in a good way, which, in my opinion, u-he borrowed and put into Hive to a lesser extent with the Shapes feature. The small modulation box in the upper right is a bit cramped, and I usually am grabbing the wrong level, but that's a minor inconvenience. For only having very few improvements since its original release, it still is very relevant and modern.Dencheg wrote: Mon Apr 25, 2022 10:20 am Actually while ago I wrote to the developer; I was asking for minor browser improvements.

Oh, yeah - Hive's shapes are a direct lift from ArcSyn for sure.

Curious for any of you who love the 90's pad sounds. Think old Korg Romplers, the JD990, spectrasonics sample packs like Distorted reality. All those really awesome digital, ethereal pad sounds. Is this a good synth for making those types of patches? I heard some really nice 3rd party patch collections and feel like it is, but I wanted to get the lowdown from you all on this gem.

ArcSyn IIRC has Waldorf Pulse SSW's and XOR modulation.
EDIT - sorry - I know it has multiple forms of XOR. Not sure about it's realtime osc mimicking Waldorf Pulse. Might check.

Awesome. I may sell my jd990 and I dont want to load the omnisphere sample library or pay $500 for it. So this synth is super intriguing. If you want 90s pad sounds for an affordable price, the KORG M1 is the way to go.stash98 wrote: Fri Feb 23, 2024 12:44 amAwesome. I have that and use it a lot. Plus the triton. I’m looking for a subtractive style synth that can get similar sounds. I like to layer multiple synths when I make my pads. Also want something complimentary for arps and leads that I can design the sounds on a little more.Korg Supporter wrote: Fri Feb 23, 2024 2:13 amIf you want 90s pad sounds for an affordable price, the KORG M1 is the way to go.stash98 wrote: Fri Feb 23, 2024 12:44 amAwesome. You can get ArcSyn 50% off with a student discount. However, I also recommend the Tone2 stuff. Gladiator oozes Kawai/Ensoniq-style pads! The upcoming Icarus 3 seems very promising, coming from someone who uses Icarus 2.5.stash98 wrote: Fri Feb 23, 2024 2:43 amI have that and use it a lot. Plus the triton. Oh wow, thanks. I will check Gladiator out too. Its a bit pricier and I thought I read the dev was taking a break.Korg Supporter wrote: Fri Feb 23, 2024 2:53 amYou can get ArcSyn 50% off with a student discount. Since you are a Korg fan, I have been using the 03R/W with the Sound Alternatives expansion a ton. To give you an idea of what pads I like. I heard a preset pack called altair-4 on the Arcsyn page and the pad sounds were pretty incredible.
