Yeah right. Stable unless you use SampleTank 2. What is going on with this host?

Tracktion doesn't seem to like sfz with direct from disk.

As far as I know the only problems getting reported recently have been bugs in the plugins themselves, but does anyone still have any problems that I might actually be able to do something about?[/quote]

I just installed a Demo version and can't get it to recognize ANY of my VSTis.

Yes, I did check the settings, add the path for where I store my VSTis, and I had it rescan with that path included.

But when I select a track and look in the destination possibilities, only my hardware is being recognized. Nothing for any of my soft synths.

I've heard good things about this software, so I'm perplexed.

:help:

Works fine here...

As a side note, DFD may be interfered with many other causes. Dive into RGC's forum and you might be able to find some more info with Rene's comment on the possible issue.(IIRC, there was some talk on the subject when sfz was initially released)

@ccollinsmith, have you set up and scanned the vst folder accordingly from the 'settings' page?

Yes. In fact, I just now uninstalled Tracktion, then reinstalled; went to the setup page; gave Tracktion the path to my VST folder; selected the option to have it scan on startup, then closed Tracktion.

When I opened the program again, I watched it scan all my plugins in the VST folder, but when I went in to Edit and selected a track, the only output destinations I could see were still for my hardware only.

So it's reading my plugins, but not listing them as possibilities to choose for output destination.

In Tracktion, plug-ins are called filters, so you need to drag the filter icon to the track you want the plugin to be and a window will popup with all your plugins neatly listed.

Thank you! That did the trick.

I saw some replies related to BFD here.
Summary on it:
If PC has choosen components (to work almost perfect as it could be presently) and 2GB plus RAM, on the first moment seems that BFD as VSTi works in Tracktion quite well.
It was major discovery for me, enabling to drop couple of TC Powercore high-end plug ins that work indeed flawlesly and to have super fast, flexible drum arranger/editor under my hands.
But later, I found that some ghost notes emerged in track (not shown in editor, but you can hear it). Still I do not know how to get rid of that (BY THE WAY ANY ADVICE?)
Second, Tracktion seems to have some limit of complexness per track, means what worked fine in the beginning turned to be nightmare near to finish of the track (when you make lot of tweaking, adjustments etc.). Either unexpected crashes or repeated hangs on same position in song.
From that moment I checked all and verdict is clear, Tracktion is unstable with BFD. To such extent that no routine works can be done with that pair.
To say that BFD is incompatible with Tracktion is wrong. Simply it is not reliable and you can expect headache in serious work.
ADVICE TO JULES:
Many hosts are far from perfect with VSTi incl. Steinbergs.
Seems that BFD is fast evolving software that needs very good integration with host. If Tracktion succeed (maybe jointly with FXpansion) to resolve this amazing task, it will be killer combination anyway.
I know many people that would buy Tracktion only to use it as simpliest sequencer/editor/host with BFD only.
Also, sync issues SHOULD be implemented.
Be rich to be free (joke).

I just downloaded Tracktion last week, and have to say it feels fantastic!

However, I am having on major problem. when I drag the filter onto a track, the only two vsts that show up are Crystal and Scorpion. I have at least 40 others, and they're just not showing up.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Other than that problem, I really like it.

You probably just have your plug-ins in a folder that Tracktion doesnt know about. So go to the settings tab, then hit the plug-ins button, now click on "add path" and look for the folder that has all your VST's in it.
After you point tracktion to your vst folder click on "rescan plug-in directory" and make sure you choose complete scan. That should update the vst list in Tracktion.
