In TW12, is there a way to make an audio clip play back over and over, without duplicating the clip? I mean, so the play head automattically jumps back to the beginning of the clip and continues from there, every time it reaches the end of the clip? Thanks, all.

If you are looking for a clip launcher, they are adding that in the next version (Waveform 13).

Otherwise consider that the playhead is across all tracks - there is not a separate playhead per track or per clip, so the only way to loop the playhead is to loop the entire project, it can't be done on a per-clip basis.

What you *can* do is enable the loop mode on a clip by clicking the "L" button on its header, after which you can drag out the ends of the clip to loop it without creating a duplicate - it would still require you to place it for the desired length within the timeline, but it would be repeating one recorded/entered clip or MIDI roll rather than making copies. In the case of MIDI this would mean that editing one copy would impact all of them.

Thank you, @fde101 - I was hoping there was another way, because I usually have clips to the right of the clip I want to repeat. But, hey, I think the method you suggested may be the best option, if I drag a dupe of the clip to beyond the end of the project and do it there, so the loop doesn't play over other clips. It's just a bit less convenient.

If you just want to temporarily play a clip repeatedly to focus in on something, you can set the loop region over that clip, turn loop on in the toolbox along the bottom of the window, and solo the track.

Thank you @fde101. That's interesting! How do you set a loop region over a clip?

Select the clip, or multiple clips, and hit A. (I hope A is the default setting, that's what I use anyway. You can customise it in the keyboard shortcuts menu)

Yes, A then L ("set the range to what I have selected" and "loop").

Works for playback, recording, punch-ins, etc.
Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and even Deezer, whatever the hell Deezer is.

Dysjoint and FED101 get the credit, but I use this feature a heckuva lot.
