Might be worth 19 euro for the presets I guess, though they seem oriented towards the "apply rhythmically modulated effects to transform drum loops into something 'original'" approach to production.
Well Rift is primarily a distortion with filter and delay so it's a very different emphasis.

Triad is true multi effect but I really don't like the UI at all. It's all a bit fiddly and inspiring.

I think UX and UI is really important. Theoretically you could probably do what Sigmund is doing with stock FX but it would be a pain in the ass and not very uninspiring.

I do think that the tools we use should be inspiring and generally a nice experience.

Often there's very little separating various effects in terms of results so a lot of the appeal of certain plugins is aesthetics and ergonomics.

:tu:

sounds great and is fun to use.

thx

I buy because when I look at a long list of plugins I'm usually dragging in d16 cuz I end up having tons of fun!

Addition: I´m impressed. The chorus vibrato I have made really melts with the signal and sounds just real and finished.

Didn´t expect that. I like it way better than the CE-2W. No more unwieldy FX pedals :hyper:

Has anyone found what's new in V2?

Couldn't find it on the website. Is it worth upgrading of not on Mac and needing the compatibility?

You find the information in the press kit.

I have played with it yesterday. I'm not fully grasping thew potential of this thing yet, I will have to read the manual for sure but can we just appreciate the generous amount of quality presets on this thing.

It doesn't seem possible to make a simple ping-pong delay that doesn't have irregular timing. I'm also having trouble getting a pitch modulation that's consistent throughout all the delay taps. The filters and drive sound fine. I find the interface contrast uncomfortable to look at. Overall it's a very 'busy' plugin for a delay and probably not something I'd use all that much.

Just out of curiousity, I tried to set up a simple ping-pong 1/8 note delay. It took me about 2 minutes and to my (possibly cloth) ears the timing seemed bang on. Start with the 'Init' preset and mute delays 2 to 4, to make sure you're only listening to one delay line.

mi-os wrote: Mon Mar 11, 2024 5:07 pm I bought v1 when i already had two of their (silverline?) plugins which were VST3 assuming this one was also VST3. It didn't look that old to be only VST2. At the time VST3 was already over 10 years old. So i never used it.

I can't say i have much fun paying for a VST3 version just to be able to use it. Free or half the price would have been more sensible. Many other companies don't charge for VST3 versions. It starts to look a bit like milking exisiting customers with all these updates.
It never ceases to amaze me that however great&generous an upgrade may ever be, someone always is going to complain about it regardless...

It shouldn't take 2 minutes. Please post a screenshot, or at least tell me your settings, as I can't find a way to do it.

If you try to set up a ping pong using just one delay line with left and right set to e.g. 2 and 4 16th notes you won't get a true ping pong -- stereo image is off. I believe the preset "True Ping Pong" points to the best way.

Jesus. You have to make individual settings for three different layers, including one layer for a single pre-delay tap that's required otherwise there's a long pause until the other delays work. No wonder I couldn't figure it out, lol. Uninstalled.

Right. I might be off but I think the reason it takes some setting up in Sigmund is the separate delay lines don't feed back into each other, which is a typical way you'd set up a ping pong in other delays. Some plugins hide any complexity with a simple "ping pong" button that does the work under the hood. Guess it would've been nice if d16 had done that within each delay line, or given us cross feedback controls. I'm still on the fence about upgrading so I'm not defending the plugin but I don't really see Sigmund as a go-to for basic stuff like a ping pong delay, although it can do it, so I'm not evaluating it on those terms.
