Of course you can have aliasing with sine waveformzerocrossing wrote: Thu Mar 07, 2024 1:39 amOh, you don't have aliasing when you use a waveform that's got no overtones? Do tell!Gam456 wrote: Wed Mar 06, 2024 10:38 amI see. It's limited and not flexible as Dune or Spirezerocrossing wrote: Wed Mar 06, 2024 3:18 am
The FM between oscillators is in the oscillator section itself, and if you want to do filter FM, you have to select one of the audio engines in the filter mod slot (not all filter models have this option), so you lose keyboard tracking, but you can then just put it back using the modulation system.
I do not have aliasing. Typically I always reset the phase and use a sine.zerocrossing wrote: Wed Mar 06, 2024 3:18 am Of course. Try it yourself. Take a sawtooth on oscillator 1 using the analog wave shapes and filter it with any filter. I used the 24 db transistor at half way. Then, take oscillator 2 and tune it down an octave and use it as a mod source for the filter. Play high notes.![]()

Just my personal impression. Obviously neither Synapse nor Arturia disclose their sales numbers publicly.fisherKing wrote: Tue Mar 05, 2024 8:45 pm what are your sources for this statement or is this just your opinion?
I don't particularly love Pigments or Dune so I doubt I'm as biased as you claim.zerocrossing wrote: Tue Mar 05, 2024 9:36 pm It's pretty clear to me that you're listening with your eyes and not your ears, or picking the one that has the presets that you like more.

FYI, I just checked, and running two sine waves an octave apart and running one to modulate the filter of Dune 3 does show noticeable aliasing on higher notes, so you might want to hit up an audiologist.Gam456 wrote: Thu Mar 07, 2024 3:32 amOf course you can have aliasing with sine waveformzerocrossing wrote: Thu Mar 07, 2024 1:39 amOh, you don't have aliasing when you use a waveform that's got no overtones? It depends. It can be good. I love a good low res digital synth sound, in the right context. I just got an Ambika that's all about 8 bit grunge into analog filters. I love that sound. If you leave Dune on "Normal/Low CPU" Modulation Rate, you can get some truly wacky stuff if you start using oscillators as mod sources. That said, if you're not going for that, it's not good. Dune still has a decent amount of range before it's noticeable, but I think they could give another level of quality for when you want something really nice and smooth.

Not even close. Dune kills Pigments with such a margin that I have to assume those who disagree might be hard of hearing. One sounds like a toy. The other is Dune.

Do you have examples, that can proove problems with our hearing?StrangeSatellite wrote: Wed Mar 13, 2024 1:55 am Not even close. Dune kills Pigments with such a margin that I have to assume those who disagree might be hard of hearing. One sounds like a toy. The other is Dune.

Will the examples prove anything to those who don't hear the difference?Igro wrote: Wed Mar 13, 2024 10:14 amDo you have examples, that can proove problems with our hearing?StrangeSatellite wrote: Wed Mar 13, 2024 1:55 am Not even close. Also let's recap what it is that is supposed to be proven:

That's not only dumb shit, but totally subjective.
