Hm. They've always been a company which has to make money. They're not doing it out of pure enthusiasm or something.
I'm not sure what point you're making, ^ that's a given.
The point that I was making is: Of course it's a commercial product. There's nothing non-commercial, non-marketing about it.

Listen, we all know you're not a funny or clever guy, you really need to leave that stuff to the experts.
Nice try!

I'm not denying it's commerciality, I'm saying if it's too in my face I deem that a point against it for my purposes in a pragmatic and aesthetic sense.

And yes, there obviously IS something noncommercial and nonmarketing about it, which would be it's use and functionality. Why would you promote and advertise nothing? You're not making any sense and I'm done talking to you in this thread.

I think you need to look up the meaning of the word.
eerie_audio wrote: Sun Apr 07, 2024 4:27 pmSo you use Artist to feel more like a real artist, makes sense.
No, I use Artist because it fits my needs, what it is actually called is of less than no interest to me. I mean, does anyone think that an iPad Pro is for professionals and a normal iPad is strictly for amateurs? No, everyone understands the use of "Pro" in product names.
Crossinger wrote: Sun Apr 07, 2024 6:21 pmWell, not quite. A close friend uses Cubase on Windows since 1994. That‘s 30 years of continuity. Most of us Studio One users would like to reach the same - without a subscription!
Do not presume to speak for anyone but yourself. Such an absurd thought has never so much as crossed my mind.
Robert Randolph wrote: Sun Apr 07, 2024 6:24 pmAh yes, the company that has released paid updates yearly like clockwork... and if you don't want the latest version you can just not pay the yearly fee. Sounds familiar... almost exactly like S1's plan!? :-o
Except if you skip a version, you will have to pay more for your next upgrade, so it's not much cheaper to do so, whereas Presonus charge you the same upgrade price, no matter which version you are upgrading from. And Cubase have, at times, also charge for point upgrades, the upgrade from 10 to 10.5 being a fairly recent example. Presonus are more generous to their users than Steinberg.

Remember that time when you got temporarily banned from KVR for insulting users for disagreeing with you?

Maybe you should take your own advice and learn to agree to disagree with people because not everything will align with what you want.

We can also block other posters, so instead of feeding any trolling you can simply avoid it altogether.

If I said you are blocked, I won't see your posts. Please kindly refrain from quoting or replying to me.
"Notifications for Nothing" are annoying. Blocking me in return is a good way to avoid this.

Which time? I've been banned many, many times over the last 23 years. It's mostly done to stop you little sooks from crying like the little babies many of you seem to be.

I'm going to make the argument for arguing online. See, probably nothing you do in life is going to leave a mark on the world or be remembered by anyone. But all of your shitposts will at least live on for eternity in some NSA server somewhere.

I'm leaving Studio One for a few reasons, but the main one is I own Studio One 5 Artist, and they offer no discounted upgrade to even 6 Artist - need to buy a whole new S1 6 Artist licence. No thanks.

That right there is enough for me to just be like nah, I'm out, laters fellas.
That's bad practice, and I'm not going to support that.

Yeah, it would be much better if they went broke and closed up shop. Or just raised prices across the board so everyone has to pay more. When you look at it, Artist is way too cheap for what it has to offer. Consequently, I'm happy to pay for a new Artist license any time I want to upgrade. It's the same price as the Pro upgrade and generally includes most or all of the new features anyone would care about, so it's not like it's worse value.

Here we go again with the white-knighting for corporations.
I don't get it.

Studio One 6 Artist WAS offered to 5 Artist owners when it first released btw, I just missed out on this as I didn't know it was a thing. There was a path offered to move up to 6, but it was taken away in favour of uh.. "give us more money!".

Nobody is suggesting these companies go broke and close up shop.
What I'm suggesting is there's no need for immense greed.
I'm allowed to say that. People are allowed to have that opinion.
You don't need to jump out with your sword and shield ready to beat down people with flawed arguments on behalf of corporations that would probably prefer you didn't (it's not a great look).

I think I'm best off blocking/muting you - there's always your archetype on forums, and I never get along with them. There's some direct clash in perspectives, and I'm too old to bother with it time and time again. I've learned to just remove this archetype from my vision and move on, reduces headaches and it stops threads from getting clogged up with the same nonsense everyone has had to endure since the dawn of internet forums.

I'll have to figure out how this forum allows someone to hide certain members posts because there's no block/mute option available that I can see.

Poor baby, can't handle a little dose of reality. As I said in the other thread, you have a lot of growing up to do.

More fool you for missing out. I got my Artist v6 upgrade the week it came out. Now, I may not be so quick with Artist v7, I'll probably wait for a sale, if I bother at all. The v6 upgrade didn't actually offer anything useful ad it works perfectly well, so I don't need to upgrade. If I do it, it will be as much to support Presonus as anything.
