wow. never seen anyone ever developing for FL's own plugin format... kudos for thatSuper Piano Hater 64 wrote: Fri Apr 19, 2024 7:14 pm None that are strictly CLAP-only, but certainly some which aren't available in VST. Most of these, for example: https://nakst.itch.io

I mean... FL is pretty popular. Wonder why there isn't more of those.wikter wrote: Sat Apr 20, 2024 12:54 pmIt's never too late to find the world out there...sQeetz wrote: Sat Apr 20, 2024 6:33 amwow. never seen anyone ever developing for FL's own plugin format... kudos for thatSuper Piano Hater 64 wrote: Fri Apr 19, 2024 7:14 pm None that are strictly CLAP-only, but certainly some which aren't available in VST. IIRC FL native plugs have some perks over VST like per note automation and such

If you know, you know.
I confess to being curious if it's possible to do a full port to GUI-less CLAP, as in 'for Mac, Windows and Linux, the way my retro and signed stuff is made'. I once had a CLAP all-in-one plugin made, but it was not maintainable the way the VCV Rack port is, and so I don't talk about it anymore. I don't like not fully supporting a format. I've never looked into whether there even IS a GUI-less, just-the-sliders format for CLAP.
If there was, well then I could show you what very lightweight really means

Did i never share this with you chris? That's a pure c (like compiles without a c++ compiler) no gui no external code except for clap implementation of a bad distortion.
it's still on my list to make a side-by-side of the single CLAP with a UI plugin from your stuff exactly the way I did rack. I should just do that one day and set up 'the button' and everything just like we did for VCV.

I love the pid_MIX ID
If you decide to do something like that, maybe you should do a form of the c99-style one arranged so it's fairly obvious where you'd bring over the VST2/DSP code and adapt it. And then point me at it and let me hand-code for months until I have everything individually ported

Fors just released their latest plugin as CLAP and AU(v2) only, macOS only as well. Seems like a risky strategy, but their m4l-only plugins did well enough in the past, so they might be able to pull it off.

Fors Tela is a nice little plugin... I'm using the CLAP version in Bitwig.nanostream wrote: Sun Apr 21, 2024 9:22 am Fors just released their latest plugin as CLAP and AU(v2) only, macOS only as well. I do have a valid VST2 license and have no plan to sign any new VST3 contract. Could I simply create a CLAP to VST2 wrapper, in a way that it creates a VST2 plugin? And anybody could just take that app throw a CLAP on it and has a working VST2 made out of it?Urs wrote: Fri Mar 15, 2024 4:37 pmNo, I never had to deal with something where a contract closed for unlimited time was retroactively cancelled by "if you want to stay in business, you have to give up that thing that we said we'd let you have forever".chk071 wrote: Fri Mar 15, 2024 4:31 pm It's a thing that you have to deal with the whole time as a developer, that was my point.
Just an idea…
I would have to learn some more bits of programming, but that wouldn’t be a big deal… (hopefully)

No. Have you?
VST1.0 was just a bare-bones I/O system for processing extensions via .dll, and VST2 just tacked MIDI 1.0 onto it. VST3 was designed to address structural problems in VST2 and be far more adaptable, robust, forward-looking, and future-proof than VST2 was (think MIDI 2.0, sandboxing, etc). That was the reason VST3 needed to happen. There isn't any such need for a VST4.

i've had problems with every type of Windows / Linux plugin.
However, for every one that failed, I can think of several that worked just fine.
I don't mind VST2, VST3, CLAP, LV2, even ActiveX/DirectX was okay (although not plugin delay compensation).
I used to use Audio Arpeggiator from AnalogX.com a lot. It was easy to use.
I will be sad to see VST2 go, but VST3 is easier to install and CLAP seems to be working out just fine too.
On Linux, Yabridge works with CLAP and LV2. And there are Linux CLAP's too. (thank god)
