Is there a way to add your own plugin folders to the inbuilt plugin browser? For example, can you configure it so that all your synth plugins are within one folder called 'Synthesizers'? Thank you!

Post

Yes, in Settings > Plugins is the favourites plugins lists. You can create folders and organize your plugins however you want

Post

Tags is the way I prefer, then a plugin can have multiple descriptors, enabling very precise organisation and searches

Although Figbug, can we please have the ability to save the library prefs such as unchecking of 'show folders' and having 'Plugins' selected so I don't have to change those 2 things every time I open Tracktion?
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

What version are you running? I did that a while ago, it should be getting saved in the edit.

I’m still on 12.5.21 and it's not working for me

Thank you, aMUSEd; I added a "Synths" tag to all my synth plugins, but it seems there is no way to take advantage of your tags when in the project editing window, is there? If I click the "+" on a track, to select a plugin, I still see the same old full and unorganized list, and no way to see just the plugins that have a specific tag.

I always have the browser sidepane open and drag plugins from the browser as I need them

So is this only in 13?

Post

It saves (in v13) per Edit, but not as a general thing. So for example if I open the tags, show only plugins and turn off folders in an Edit, then any time I open that Edit those settings will remain. Other Edits will have their own settings. Any new Edits, though, will have the defaults: tags hidden, all results, show folders.

It would be nice for those settings to save into a Layout. At the very least, the status of the Master track should save into a Layout. Isn't it one of the global tracks?

Speaking of which, in new Edits the global tracks aren't shown even though the Blue Eye says they're toggled on. It's kinda weird. I understand there is a separate visibility control for them, but why? Both controls (the global tracks icon and the Blue Eye) can feel broken because they can sometimes do nothing when one is overriding the other.
Surely there must be consensus by now...

i haven't tagged my plugins, but is Settings>Plugins>Plugin Selector = Tag Menu what you are looking for?

Post

The thing I like about tags is any plugin can have multiple tags so you can refine searches to locate specific types eg fx-reverb-granular-huge. However that works best where you can see the browser with the ‘tag cloud’ above it as in my screenshot and with a drag and drop approach to adding plugins. So I never user the in track plugin menu as that approach forces more of a linear approach to organisation

Thanks for confirming- yeah it would be better as a global option or layout, not just per project
