I'm unsure if it's one of the videos I viewed, but in one of them, they (inadvertently?) chose MicroMusic's alpha option, instead of their beta or next one-- assuming there was another option then. I'm mentioning this in early Feb. of course, so progress has possibly been made. It seems good, if not so much for percussion yet.Aloysius wrote: Sat Dec 09, 2023 4:03 pm He did his best to make it look bad. Listen to what he says at the end of the video. I might have to try it out myself. I never got any good sounds out of SonicCharge Washing Machine v2 and that ain't exactly cheap.

Does anyone know when we can get Vital v1.6?

Is there v1.6?! I have v1.5.5 in my account (Pro).
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Oh! Pardon! My mind read it 'where'
I have no idea really. v1.5.5 works great with me, but I hope there is a future development for this great synth.

Yeah it's a great synth no doubt but it hasn't been updated for more than a year IIRC so I'm kinda worried about it.EnGee wrote: Sat Jul 13, 2024 9:35 amOh! Pardon! My mind read it 'where'![]()

Some of those old Oberheims and Moogs haven't been updated for over 40 years....
So I'm kinda worried about them too

yeah, currently vital has a text to speech module. it would be cool to include some AI functionality, like the patch generation in synthplant 2... but i'd rather like the galaxy module of Arturia Buchla synth to appear in vital.

Certainly you can understand the difference between updating hardware and software.digitalboytn wrote: Sat Jul 13, 2024 12:10 pm Some of those old Oberheims and Moogs haven't been updated for over 40 years....

KVR is always such a friendly place... for a pure musician maybe that's just a synth... no matter if software or hardware; it makes noiseTeksonik wrote: Sat Jul 13, 2024 12:25 pmCertainly, you can understand the difference between updating hardware and software.digitalboytn wrote: Sat Jul 13, 2024 12:10 pm Some of those old Oberheims and Moogs haven't been updated for over 40 years....

I would like Vital to be updated more to address existing issues than to add features, but I understand it's perfectly usable now. So I would use it as it is today rather than waiting for it to be better

Why should software be constantly updated as long as it works as intended? Just because it can be done so more easily, compared to hardware?
But to reply the to the actual question here: Matt (Vitals dev) had responded in the official Discord a while ago that he's still working on some new Vital features. He's not very active publicly, but that doesn't mean nothing is happening.

How long ago is a while? I feel like I’ve seen people saying this for at least a year and a half.Fannon wrote: Sat Jul 13, 2024 4:12 pm Why should software be constantly updated as long as it works as intended? Just because it can be done so more easily, compared to hardware?

It's been a long time since I checked up on Vital but I seem to remember that some people were having issues with 1.5.5 since it was released and those issues had not been addressed. So to them it may not be "perfectly usable".mabian wrote: Sat Jul 13, 2024 2:39 pmKVR is always such a friendly place... for a pure musician maybe that's just a synth... no matter if software or hardware; it makes noiseTeksonik wrote: Sat Jul 13, 2024 12:25 pmCertainly, you can understand the difference between updating hardware and software.digitalboytn wrote: Sat Jul 13, 2024 12:10 pm Some of those old Oberheims and Moogs haven't been updated for over 40 years....

The only thing I've used Vital for in the last year and a half or so is the Text to Wavetable feature which I export to use in other synths or render to audio. Other than the TTWT feature I have a folder full of alternative synths that can do the same and do it better. So I don't care if it ever gets updated or fixed as long as the TTWT feature continues to work. If it stops working then Vital will be deleted.
The great advantage of soft synths is that they can be updated and upgraded by motivated developers unlike most hardware such as the Oberheims and Moogs mentioned above. That was the point of my response to the post above. They "haven't been updated for over 40 years" because they can't be for the most part. Are they still great synths? I suppose but then so are many of the synths released since then both hard and soft. Progress marches on and leaves boot prints on those who can't or won't keep up.
Vital had great promise but life is too short and the market too saturated to faff about with synths that are by all intents and purposes abandoned.

Vital is open-sourced, update it yourself: https://github.com/mtytel/vitalTeksonik wrote: Sat Jul 13, 2024 11:00 pm It's been a long time since I checked up on Vital but I seem to remember that some people were having issues with 1.5.5 since it was released and those issues had not been addressed. It's ridiculos how people get a cool synth for free (most of us use it for free, absolutely) and then whine: "no updates!

Let's be grateful. It makes sense.
No, the market isn't saturated by free synths of such a tier. I can name a few.Teksonik wrote: Sat Jul 13, 2024 11:00 pm Vital had great promise but life is too short and the market too saturated to faff about with synths that are by all intents and purposes abandoned.![]()
