Ahh. :) I indeed thought that was what you meant.
But I assume Atlatnesiti meant why not upgrade to Kontakt 7.

Which I assume the answer will be a combination of either cost: not worth the cost/can't justify the cost currently, can't afford it presently) to at least sacer who says (and I don't doubt him though I do think it is Ableton Live more than K7 is the issue (yes I know he will say K6 works fine)) he has stability and performance issues with K7, though he has it I believe but doesn't use it.

Apologies if someone else has posted it, but all the K6 libraries versions of the libraries that have been updated are in this thread.

hopefully this solves all the scenarios and theoretical scenarios.

NICE! This should be put visible for any newcomer of this forum (or is it?). And not only for visitors of the forum, but for any Kontakt user somewhere at NI website or NI access or in the changelog there.
Thanks for this as I was looking for the option to get the pre-K7-only versions without the need of contacting NI support which means to spend a lot of time and nerves usually ;]

//and yes, I accidentally updated just a few libraries with hope that there will be not only the new ones but also the old ones .NKIs available somehow (is that really so complicated to implement such a thing to an update like this?).

This is a weird catch22. I updated to Kontakt7 and it is not stable on Mac Sonoma. Sometime my Mac totally blackout and shut down... and on Kontakt 5,8 some instruments does not work.

Post

Just a heads up there's a Kontakt 7.7 update incoming.

I know this because the Vocal Colors library has been updated to 1.5 and looks great (drop your own samples in, etc) so I update the library via Access which went well until I tried to open it and got a "Your Kontakt is too old, please update to 7.7".

So now I'm locked out of my Vocal Colors library.....

I'm reviving this thread due to issues!

I just opened a project I left there four months ago.
In the meantime, I have kept K7 up to date.

K6, which is used on many tracks in the project, says it cannot load some content and complains about missing stuff on Ethereal Earth (which is normally loadable in K7); when I point ("browse for folder" in the missing content dialog box) to the folder of Native Instruments content EE is loaded in demo mode and with no sound.

This is the kind of thing I was worried about. It could be a glitch or unwanted behavior but now my project, courtesy of NI, has a track without K6 settings and sounds.

Total bummer.

... many others are in similar situations... it seems NI made available installers for the older K6 compatible versions of various libraries, but what if one has some projects with k6 and older libraries and K7 with newer ones...? This looks like a can of worms...

Also, let's say I manage to load the K6 instance with all settings intact.

Is there any way to port it - export/import for example - to K7?

Thanks,
Mario

The nki files used in old sessions should load fine. They may have changed this behavior but it would be dumb if they did.
Don't F**K with Mr. Zero.

That behavior did not change. It would indeed be very dumb if it did. :D

Save it as a multi then load it in K7. If you use a host which supports VST3 or AU migration (currently: Maschine, KK, Cubendo, Logic), it will happen automatically if K7 is the only plugin installed on your system.

Thanks, I've managed to do it slightly differently but take a look at this...

It seems Kontakt is *k*omplaining (couldn't resist) about a missing nkr...

Hmmm that's weird. As far as I know, the new updates aren't deleting any old resource files (or aren't supposed to). At any rate, reinstalling the old version of the library should bring that back.

It did indeed.
Also, in NI article they say to launch Native Access to have it reconcile the versions.
I did, but after installing Ethereal Earth 2.0.2 over 2.1.x Native Access still "sees" 2.1.x as installed.

Kinda messy, no?
