I'm looking for some ideas on how to fake DJ turntalble scratching without a turntable. Anybody have any fun recipes on how to fake that sound?

I use Scratch Master Pro, when programmed and used correctly it's indifferentiable from real scratching. Multiple sources so you can do transformers. It's geared toward live performance which helps make it sound more real. But it can be sequenced as well. https://unitedaudio-artists.com/

Otherwise, you use your DAW's varispeed/timestretch capabilities, and reverse media manually. Though if it can only do linear time movements won't be able to do it all.

Use your delay!

If you can change the delay time it will create very very realistic scratches

Serato sample will do that - grab the waveform with your mouse and drag it back and forth across the play head

I was able to do it with RIBS, the granular synth plugin. It has a play head that can be grabbed and dragged.
Some of the other apps mentioned here worked well too.
Eventually I picked up a cheap DJ controller with capacitive jogwheels that make it much easier to pull off and are very fun to play with.

I'm thinking you can also do this with Traktor.

I use an iOS app called Djay. Works pretty well.
