I've been recording a lot of sampler food lately. I'll cut up the recordings later but I liked the way these sounds came out, so I recorded a little performance with them. It's weird and dirty and the rythms are extra wonky. I cross modulated the Rollz on the Plumbutter2 with a few channels of the Ornament-8 to really wack things out of time while still forcing the sounds to rhythmically interlock with each other..

There are places where the underlying rhythmic structure emerges but it's mostly a mess.

Some great sounds. Definitely heard something around the 6:20 mark which could be fun to build off of, that sounded like call/response type interaction.

Reminds me that my Microsound book arrived, but haven’t had the chance to start reading it. Make Noise mentioned maybe doing another video on that too.

There's another 40mins of these recordings and there are some really great bits to pull from them. When listening to the individual tracks (this recording consists of 7 tracks), it's probably more obvious how the sounds can be used on their own. This was just a few minutes where the sounds kinda coalesced together.

I think the underlying tempo is likely a lot higher than that but it's all relative.

I heard the days of bangers are over... I'm aiming for something that slaps or f**ks. Maybe needs more hi-hat rolls.

I love you too, buddy! These sounds/sequences come from very simple/primitive circuits but with lots of chaotic interactions. So it's all deterministic, but the relationships are probably difficult to "hear". For example, there are 4 sequences of gates, which run at related rates but they interrupt/reset each other. A sound might use one of those gate sequences to trigger the sound, and the other sequence to change the pitch of the sound. I'd love to spend more time exploring feedback sequencing like that, perhaps it's worth discussing in a video at some point.

Oh man that sounds awesome! I had similar plans for some of those bass groans.

When you isolate the sounds and y'know... space them out normally

they are really just simple electronic percussion. I feel like there are a ton of great analog kick, tom, snare, and hi-hat sounds throughout and when I start looping short segments there is some real gold in there! Some great accent rhythms when layered with a more regular beat, if you know what I mean.
