Can someone explain why would someone buy this if the upgrade to the latest version is over 250? (if I remember correctly).

I picked this up for that price several months ago, solely for those items bolded below, which when priced individually (even when on 50% off sale) amount to several+ hundreds of dollars, and I'm more than content without the latest version. When the "latest version" goes on sale with whatever they have added, for a similar discount next year, if what they have added is of interest to me, I may pick it up, then. Simple.

Smaller updates, yes, but not up to a major revison - 3.x to 4.x, etc.
The v8 Collection has CS80 V3, and doesn't update to v4 unless you pay for the indivudual upgrade fee for it, or you get the newer collection.

VC8 is great! There's nothing in VC9 or VC10 I'd want except for Wurli V3. But Arturia wouldn't let me upgrade for less than € 49. When there were sales, the upgrade mysteriously disappeared from my account instead of making it cheaper than € 49. Three years ago I bought the Stage-73 V2 upgrade for a mere € 14. Now that was a good deal! Not this time though. Lucky for me AudioThing released their Wurly. Not only cheaper than € 49, also better than Wurli V3 imo. Maybe it was meant to be this way.

Does anyone know if Dreamtonics Synthesizer V Studio Pro ever goes on sale?

The current bundle price of $151.20 USD for SynthV Studio Pro + 1 voice bank seems like a good value, but I'm willing to waiting a bit if it's likely to get substantially cheaper.

So Dreamtonics just released a new vocal effects plugin (Vocoflex) and is running a store-wide sale, including on Synth V and voice banks, to promote it.

The store home page still shows $151.20 for the SynthV Studio Pro + 1 voice bank, but once you actually click through to the bundle, select your voice, and add it to the cart then the sale price is shown. I just bought SynthV Studio Pro + Solaria voice bank for $115.98 USD (before taxes).

Yeah that's a bummer, they had a lot of good deals. Over on VI-Control they said they will be having 100 deals as a final blowout starting tomorrow and re-running some of their best selling deals so there might be some good stuff in the final sale.

One thing I forgot to mention is that I heard on the Cakewalk forums that this place doesn't work outside of the USA, or at least just this deal...not sure which. It did work for me back in December, but I'm in the USA.

If you're in another country, I guess you can try adding it your cart to test it out and check to see what happens.
