Thank you, I'm probably doing something wrong. I'm not the brightest bulb in the lamp when it comes to figuring out how to use something like this.kv331 wrote: Tue Jul 30, 2024 6:59 amJust tested with Ableton Live 11 on Windows 10 (OS should not make any difference here). Works fine. You can also change the skin by clicking on the settings menu at the center of the logo:Floranada wrote: Tue Jul 30, 2024 5:58 am No I am using it with Ableton Live 11.3 on Windows 11. I don't think I even installed the standalone. I'm just lazy. I need to figure out how to make a screenshot on Windows and I'll post it. But pretty much that's what it's doing. The container window enlarges, Synthmaster stays the same size. I know this is not as hip slick and cool as granular synthesis but it's a great thing for older/tired eyes!

If you're using a DAW that lets the plugin container size be different than the rendered UI you might have to grab and drag the "dotted" corner of the UI instead of the window corner: These being distinct can be a bit unintuitive. Notice that SM resizes in "fixed" steps, and will also adjust the DAW window size to match.
For me this happens in Reaper, Bitwig, and FLStudio (latest versions). Ideally SM would follow the container window by itself as possible (so i guess this counts as a bug report/feature request?) but the existing dragging handle should work.

I would like to automate the different steps frequency in the lfo step module. Is this possible?

Not sure if this has been asked - but when I try to add 2 expansions that I have in my account to SM3 via "restore my preset banks" in the preset menu - it says: you dont have any expansions in your account. How to solve this? Btw, SM3, playing with it past 30 mins, sounds great, well done.

For now, please restore expansions inside sm1/sm2. I think it is time to add this functionality to sm3

Hi guys,
What's your take on a limited "Free" version of SynthMaster 3, aside from the "Demo" and "Player" (SM3 Player will be released in 2025)
Limited features such as (not finalized yet)
1. Max Layers: 1
2. Max Modules: 2 -> 1 Osc (All oscillator types except additive/vector/modulator), 1 Filter or Waveshaper
3. Max Modulation Sources: 3
4. Max Osc Unison: 8 voices
5. Max Grains for Granular Osc: 16
6. Max Global Unison: 2 voices
7. Max Polyphony: 8 voices
8. Max Mod Matrix Entries: 16
9. Max Number Of Instances: 8
10. No Global FX
11. Max Number Of Layer FX slots: 3
12. No Wav export for waveforms / wavetables
13. No Sfz export for multi-samples
14. Doesn't read SM3 preset, but SM3 can read its presets
15. Will come with 100 factory presets
16. User must register with a valid email address to be able to use it.
As opposed to the demo version -it emits noise every minute-, this would be useable in a project.

By automate, do you mean host automation ?Charlie Firpo wrote: Thu Aug 01, 2024 3:13 pm I would like to automate the different steps frequency in the lfo step module. Is this possible?
You can automate the LFO speed parameter. The easiest way is to modulate it with the macro knob. the macro knobs are visible by the host as automateable parameters. Alternatively, you can right click on the knob and add the speed knob as an "automateable" host parameter

Hi Bulent! Thanks for the reply. No i was thinking about automating the individual step pitches in the steplfo to create switchable arpchords. I could use the arp/seq for that, but what i like about the steplfo is that it allows the "arp" to fade out nicely with the adsr release instead of just stopping on noteoff. But nvm, i found a workaround yesterday thanks to the generosity of sources in Sm3. So i'm all good.

Thanks for the bug report. The fix will be in the next build. The sub osc and the main osc should always be in-phase (I might add a sub phase parameter to set the phase difference between them, but right now it is zero)Charlie Firpo wrote: Sat Jul 27, 2024 12:23 pm Using the Va oscillator and the sub together with exactly the same waveforms there's a small phasedrift on note-on when phase "Free" is turned off. And when "Free" is turned on i get no phase drift. I may be missing something here, but shouldnt it be the opposite? (I've checked so that the drift/speed knob is at zero)

Hi, I've got a layer with the grain oscilator and two groups - each containing a single sample - however, only group 1 is audible (unless i mute it, in which case group 2 becomes audible).
--- ---
P.S. Would it be possible to add an option to define the middle C as C3 (range C -2 -> G8) ?

with the grain oscillator, only 1 sample region plays at a time. that's its limitation for now.robert_p wrote: Fri Aug 02, 2024 1:51 pm Hi, I've got a layer with the grain oscilator and two groups - each containing a single sample - however, only group 1 is audible (unless i mute it, in which case group 2 becomes audible).

I think this is mostly a question for other developers and their experiences.kv331 wrote: Fri Aug 02, 2024 10:19 am What's your take on a limited "Free" version of SynthMaster 3, aside from the "Demo" and "Player" (SM3 Player will be released in 2025)
I heard rather mixed reports regarding free versions (also with things like magazine versions).
The problem always is, that if you make it actually useful, it also may be enough for many people already. Like, so far I'm still only using a single layer most of the time and effects I have in plenty externally...
I personally would rather invest the time/money in improving the actual product, but that is just me.
And to that "me", there are many areas where the product and workflow could be modernised and made more direct and fluid.
Like right-mouse dropdowns with many submenus aren't exactly convenient to select sounds/samples for instance, an actual browser that stays open while one is testing different samples or wavetables would be much better.
Or the effects slots: They don't have any other function than to select effects, why not make that selection available directly with a left mouseclick. I find myself always clicking on the empty slots, expecting something to happen. Yes it makes sense in some technical, logical way, but it just doesn't feel fluid.
Also, the GUIs have always been a bit weak with SM for me too, so looking into making them look less last decade could help making your product more beautiful to look at and therefore more attractive outside your old customerbase that is used to it already.
For me, you have the sound and functionality down very well, but the whole interface, while totally usable, is not up do date visually or fast to use in many areas.
Also your website is a rather mixed experience IMO in todays environment.
I know this is no small or easy task, but it feels like a more worthy path than the free version to me.
Cheers!
Tom

Instead of free you could make a SM3 Lite version at a very cheap price like $29 with limited functions.
Yes some people would just use that and won't buy the full version maybe but you would still get a bit of money out of that anyway instead of giving it away for free. And you would have a percentage of those new customers then upgrading to the full version.
