Hello,

MCompressor is a nice straight forward compressor but it lacks a little character which I think could be extended upon.

I think it would be nice to have control of the attack->decay slope and inertia of the compression (so it can overshoot) and have a feedback option (compressed signal being fed back into the compressor). So you'll have

Attack
Attack slope (from attack to decay is a slope, with this you can control how steep that slope is)
Release
Inertia (when attack and decay meet, inertia will decide slight attack overshoot before going in full release, works as a delay parameter between attack and release)
Feedback (will control initial attack to be less instantaneous)

I tried to draw it out in my amazing paint skills:

Adding just a few controls and you can use MCompressor to mimic accurately many very fancy compressor plugins/hardware. Everything is just dynamic wave shaping with a compressor anyway. Heck you could even let people draw the exact attack and release curve they want in a plot in from 0.01ms in logarithmic scale and a horizontal line for the threshold.

MTurboComp already exists to mimic other fancy compressors, so these features would fit better there, no?

Not everybody likes to operate with percentage valus in TurboComp though.

The knobs in MTurboComp really confuse me and I can't use the plugin effectively at all. Values on knobs of 0-100%, ratio, attack and release 0-100%, I mean... what is that in ms for that particular compressor? Which ratio am I at? Should I pull on an analyzer when I want the release to be exactly 1/2 bar to create an off beat pulsation or see how the %s relate to the values in the follower(s)? Then there are unclear knobs like "tone" in the side chain with nothing in the description. Don't get me wrong, the added controls in TurboComp are nice but it could be so much clearer to use.

Just need a plugin with clear dials, there's no need to replicate gear from the stone age in layout when you can just give all the shaping tools one needs and have a clear functionality.

Percentage is just the default. If you want a certain device's control to use a different unit, then you can change it.

The edit screen of MTurboComp would probably more suitable for your taste.

It shows only the % because it is linked to several parameters, there's no way to translate it to ms. It will only show accurately when linked to a single parameter in any plugin (Melda or not, this is just how it is).

What I try and say is that it doesn't have to be this way, you can modify/draw/edit the curve with just some parameters. You do not need 2 envelope followers and 4 different processors to draw an attack and release curve.

You can already draw the response curve in MCompressor (X in = Y out), all I'm asking for is a way to draw the attack and release curve as well.
