Nice sound design and atmostphere ! Quite gripping in my headphones :p
This atmostpheric sound design is great really. As is the structure of the track !

That drumkit came from the "I-Hope-You-Like-Drum-Machines XTS Collection", whose format doesn't appear to be supported in the latest EXT64. Another reason for me to keep the 32-bit versions around.
Thanks very much for taking the time to listen and comment, Justin. Glad you enjoyed it

I started this one with the intention of making an ambient piece. Somewhere along the way my plan changedjwnicholson wrote: βThu Aug 01, 2024 4:59 pm I could meditate to the opening part. It's very contemplative. Then the percussion and drums kick in and take things up a notch. I love the journey of it.

This one is less "difficult" than some of your other work which is not a bad thing. It drifts in a pleasant way for the first couple of minutes not unlike a classic TD intro. The layers of vocal-like pads are quite enjoyable. Then we get a jolt from some muscular drums with some very well chosen sounds. We've gone from floating to land cruising in an all-terrain vehicle in an instant and it works. After the drums disappear, we are back in a more enhanced version of driftspace until the end.
I suppose it could be extended a bit but there is not a dull moment and leaves the listener wanting more so perhaps it is perfect as it is. Maybe the cymbals could be further back in the mix with more reverb but this very subjective.
Overall, I think the mix and the track are great. Well done.

I put this together over a couple of evenings 16 months ago. I think approx. 40% of the time was spent putting the sounds together, and the rest was composition/mixing. I think my favourite part was the Z3ta+2/RIBS combo.
Thanks very much for the great comments, cardinalt. Glad you enjoyed it

Great track! For my taste, the section with the drums could have been a couple minutes longer. I can imagine an alternate tension building version that heaps on tonal layers and complex drum programming, cutting off when the vocal pad ends the piece. Thanks for sharing.

No parallel Berlin sequencing here
This one was all about the contrast between the "ambient" parts and the heavy percussive section. Good to hear that it workedFrantz wrote: βFri Aug 16, 2024 6:54 pm It drifts in a pleasant way for the first couple of minutes not unlike a classic TD intro. I might take a look at that later, but I do like the aforementioned contrast.Frantz wrote: βFri Aug 16, 2024 6:54 pm I suppose it could be extended a bit but there is not a dull moment and leaves the listener wanting more so perhaps it is perfect as it is. I may have a look at that in the future. I made this in EnergyXT2 instead of EXT64, mainly because of differences in the implementation of the modular routing between the two DAWS. I can probably work around the problem in EXT64 but it will require a lot of extra instrument instances to do it. Another option would be to try moving the project to MuLab.Genetic_Junk wrote: βSat Aug 24, 2024 8:04 am Great track! For my taste, the section with the drums could have been a couple minutes longer. Beautiful and wonderous! Impressive ambient- I usually skip pass ambient parts but this was very musical with melody and chords but I couldn't figure out what was making the melody or what the chords were, which made it more appealing. Nice range of notes- very low, middle, and high.
When the drums came in the ambient faded out for a short break and came back in, very good arranging to keep things changing but not too much.
