VST3 Automation Issues

I've generated a few plugins and when I try to add automation in Ableton live on the VST3 plugin it doesn't seem to send a touch message. I can't get it to identify itself and write automation from the GUI. In Ableton the X/Y controller set to [configure] see's nothing when I touch a knob.
In StudioOne I was able to reach the automatable parameters and found all of the Maize Sampler parameters and the list of controllers and I could create an automation lane and connecting the parameter related to a knob did work to automate it. Is this how it's supposed to work? Not the best workflow. All of the commercial plugins that I know can be automated from the GUI.
Seems basic but I couldn't find anyone else complaining. Is it just me?

Which version of Maize Sampler did you use to compile for your plugin?

Used quite a few up to the latest 2.10.1. on MAC
I built and tested on both MAC and Windows to the same results.

I have had the same issue for a couple years. I don't think it ever worked. Hopefully soon as Its my number one complaint from users of my last plug

This is rather basic. The VST API support requires that a touch event be sent from the control so that users can record automation from the plugin's GUI. In many hosts i.e. Abelton Live, you go into setup mode and twiddle the control which you would like to automate and thus it's identified.
