Over the years, I've used several versions of Waveform and although I've never got to grips with the browser, I've manages somehow to find my midi files, one shots and loop samples.
Now that i've upgraded to Waveform 13 with the clip launcher, its inportant to access and audition loops, But where are they? Where does the content reside?
If I open my browser and click all results I have several catagories to choose from:
(this is what i get)
Plugins...No results
Presets....No Results
Racks....No Results
Samples...One or two random Midi files and a couple of One Shots
Clips---No Results
Tracks....No Results
Packs....Yes but all mixed up. Midi files, one shots and loops.
My questions are, Is there a correct file location for factory and user content. And how do you distinguish between Audio Loops, Clips, One Shots and Midi loops in the search results.
In Ableton a Clip is a Audio loop but in waveform it's a Step clip?? confused...
Waveform 13 browser content help!

Settings -> File Locations
Some types have different icons, but as far as I know there is no way to distinguish between audio loops and audio samples (one-shots) that way. Using the "Categories" filter in the Search can be helpful. And how do you distinguish between Audio Loops, Clips, One Shots and Midi loops in the search results.
In Waveform, clips can be audio, step, MIDI or edit. The term "clip" is more generic and does not denote which type of data is in the clip - unless you use more descriptive words along with it, eg. "step clip" and "audio clip".In Ableton a Clip is a Audio loop but in waveform it's a Step clip?? confused...
Surely there must be consensus by now...

Thanks for the reply Pough.
I get what you're saying, there doesn't seem to be a dedicated location in waveform for user/third party content. I found this youtube video for waveform 9, where he uses a seperate hard drive for loops.
I think I'll need to go through C; drive and get all my Audio loops, MIDI loops and One Shots into seperate folders.

For samples I have always done exactly that, create my own folders on a separate drive and then use Tracktion/Waveform's file browser tab. Works for me. I don't use many saved midi clips, but the same system would work.

Exactly. It's your content, put it where you like and use them in multiple DAWs. You can add loops to search paths to be in the loop database. You can also add bookmarks in the Search tab, like I have done. I added bookmarks for Loops, Samples, and MIDI.BernieBass wrote: Thu Aug 29, 2024 5:31 pm there doesn't seem to be a dedicated location in waveform for user/third party content
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Surely there must be consensus by now...
