Hi,

just curious, is the .vst3 version of Biothek 2.3.3 working for anyone on Linux? Renoise crashes, Bitwig says "Could not load plugin" and Reaper doesn't show any UI. Is this working for anyone or is this a bug? The VST2 versions works fine.

Thanks!

Just noticed, the same happens with f.em with the vst3 version on Linux.

In the VST2 version, I cannot type in any text when changing preset instrument text data or searching presets. In f.em, I can enter the preset strings, but cannot search in the presets. I'd like some confirmation before I bother the support.

In general, no Tracktion plugins in VST3 format work for me on Linux. The Tracktion VST (VST2) plugin versions do run, though.
I cannot help with further experience about using them, as I usually do not use VST instruments and only for curiosity opened them quickly for discovering what they are about. This is also why I cannot state about VST3 plugins from other companies, as I by now only discovered the VST instruments having been delivered with Waveform PRO.

Tracktion Waveform 13 can't run some of its plugins because WF13 doesn't run well with Pipewire-Jack plugin, if you select ALSA as your audio driver all of them will work, also Drumsampler crash when Pipewire-Jack is selected when select ALSA all of the drumkits run well.

This is not new to Waveform 13. The Collective vst3 has the problem since always.

ive also runned into this issue, had no problem with older version of f-em.vst3 but updated one doesnt work, luckly vst2 does

Do all of you, who are facing this problem, work with a graphical desktop environment which is NOT based on GTK and on Linux installations where no GTK based desktop environment is installed in parallel to the non-GTK environment you are using? You are all on KDE, for instance? I am on KDE and suffer this problem.
I am asking, because In another thread (viewtopic.php?t=603151) it was suggested that the issue might be caused by some unfulfilled dependency to some GTK library, and I would like to verify if this idea is supported by your experience. May I ask on which Desktop Environments the issue occurred for you?

I'm on Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS ... and BioTek, Collective and F'em vst3 do not work or do not work reliably. Vst2 works just fine.

I have this problem with Biotek 3 on Debian 12 KDE, did you find a solution ?

Post

Nope... and Biotek 3 comes in VST3 only. I've sent a support request. Hopefully they'll figure out why their VST3 flavoured plugins do not work in Linux.

That's too bad. The upgrade is on sale for just a few days. I'm not taking the risk to have a no use purchase.

I can confirm that with latest version of F-em (`1.2.8`) both vst3 and vst works

Installing ubuntu-restricted-extras fixed that problem for me, I think those plugins needs the WIndows Truetype Fonts package for Linux to work properly.
