Despite these apparent mathematical benefits, 64 bit mixing will only yield a minimal quality improvement. 32 bit mixing is still fully sufficient for professional grade productions. It may give you an edge though if you enter your songs into competitions and proclaim that it was produced using 64 bit floating point mixing

jens, it's when there's obviously something needs to be done about making it easier to start with, say, scanning the missig plugins, yet we see the effort got put into 64-bit engine/surround, and that annoys me too.

Also, you didn't quote his whole post. I have to say Fritz indeed wrote in a pretty balanced way. That said, of course, the main point of his writing is still about emphasizing that 64 bit mixing is better. (here's the original post)

I'm not saying his view on the technical side is wrong. It's just that personally I believe the whole focus is misplaced.

It's arguably a choice of positioning, so maybe we should leave it as that. But I really hate to see the same mindset creeping into the Tracktion community. There are already more than enough hosts pursuing the 'pro' image on the market, and we really could spare one less.

My apologies for feeling sick about it though. My feeling comes from the past experience as a user of Orion, which has a weird development focus and a history of struggling to be perceived as a 'pro' product. So pardon me if I'm a tad sensitive to certain suggestive indications. (great, I'm about to annoy another group of ppl now )

What I am *really* hoping for is audio editing in the style of cool edit/adobe audition. All mouse action super fast. Some kind of temp locker like albeton or acid would be sweet as well. I would also love to see a flexible wave editor built in with vst fx. I would pay another 60$ just for that.

Audition costs $300, Acid is $400, and Live is $500. I think if T's functionality gets close to those apps its probably gonna cost more than $120 bux.

well they are far from the only hardware company to buy themselves a sequencer...

The way I see it is if I'm in the market for hardware[1], and Mackie items offer good integration with Tracktion, then I'm a lot better off than if *no* hardware works with Tracktion.

-export all tracks (individually)
-Full Midi controller support
-Midi learn shell (to control vst's with any controller, despite the programming within the vst) - if this is in, ill be pretty happy. All youd have to do is turn a knob on the vst, then say okay turn a knob/fader that you want to control it with. Bam
-note length lock in piano roll (per clip OR per project view)

I have no idea what you mean by this. Or more accurately, there are probably about 3 different things you could mean here, but I'm not sure which one you mean so I'm not going to hazard a guess. Care to elaborate?
