pekbro wrote: Tue Aug 13, 2024 12:48 am It's not really about getting stuff cheap or free, I just don't have any reason to buy it.
I have $2000 worth of boutique amp and associated pedals, I even have the hoodie
on top of that, I have 3 separate HW amp sims, that imo sound better than the SW sims,
not to mention I have prob $10k in pedals and whatnot.
Oh yeah… D’oh !! :dog:
And those hardware amp sims are which sound better than software sims?
If you're asking which HW sims I have, they are UAFX dream, Strymon Iridium, Quitler Superblock.
I prob have some old line 6 and avid stuff laying around somewhere as well, if you want to get
technical about it.
Thanks never heard of those! I have Kemper player now and really happy with tone results i get!
It seems that Kemper does not get much love here on KVR? Tonex is heard and talked a lot about.

I will check those pedals out you named.
Nice, the Kemper seems like it would be pretty good. The pedals I have are pretty cool,
though, I'm not sure most folks would need to have more than one of them, beyond
collecting the series for the UA or quilter pedals or something. I just happen to have
a number of them, like I have a number of audio interfaces laying around. That said,
you couldn't go wrong really, with any of them. The quilter stuff is pretty interesting
since it's solidstate modeling. I cant really say if it's better or worse than digital, but
it's very good imo and has some benefits over the digital pedals in regard to sheer
output. 24 v pwr and XLR out.

*Basically, the quilter is a real solidstate guitar amp, just a small one. It can even
drive a small cab. Whereas the digital amp modelers are fake, to put it bluntly...
That quilter amp modeller would have been a great contender for my recently bought Kemper player, too bad i just came on the path just now :-( it looks really solid stuff.
But teh Kemper is great overall even if its fake :-)

I am really impressed with Guitar Rig 7....

The 8 ICM amps sound funking great and they cover all of the sonic territory I ever need...

Mucho kudos to the 3 amigos and the other peeps who put this all together....
No auto tune...

This is really great. Not quite the detail of NAM or ThU captures but really close and with the included fx and super fast workflow I can see me reaching for this more times than not. I play clean to edge of break up.
It's good isn't it ....sounds great...neat and compact

jamcat wrote: Sat Aug 03, 2024 9:21 pm TONEX would be my favorite if they ever fix the amp disable bug.
I’ve documented it here several times. Here it is:

When a song has been saved with either the amp or cab component disabled, TONEX will process the audio with it enabled upon reopening the song, though it will still appear disabled in the UI.

This occurs in the VST3 version on both Mac and Windows in at the very least Cubase and Studio One, and possibly other DAWs as well. This bug has occurred in every version after 1.2.6.

So in a scenario where you are using an amp model from TONEX going into a 3rd party IR, there is no way to disable the TONEX cab model and keep it disabled. You have to manually toggle it on and off every time you load the song.
This bug has FINALLY been fixed in TONEX 1.7.5, which was released today.
THIS MUSIC HAS BEEN MIXED TO BE PLAYED LOUD SO TURN IT UP

i hate guitar rig myself. its got one of the
better UI's of the big name bloated guitar
sims tho.

I paid $400 or so for version one, + an upgrade or 2 before finally abandoning it.

All of the ICM amps sound great - the most realistic I have ever heard - but my favourites are the AC15,Chicago and the SLO ....

The ICM amp models in Guitar Rig 6 didn't quite cover enough bases, but that was all taken care of in GR7...

GR7 Pro is a powerful all in one solution...really good !

But I did just buy PRIMO because that's quick and easy with a very small footprint...
No auto tune...

I demoed APFX Primo for about 15 mins and bought it today. Wow, this is exactly what I've been looking for! I have a bunch of the freebie amp sims and bought Guitar Rig 6 Pro which I like but always end up spending a ton of time trying to dial in a sound I'm looking for instead of playing. Primo seems to already know what I want and I can just focus on playing. Awesome!

At 40% off plus another 10% for subscribing to the newsletter, this was the easiest decision I've made in a long time!

I just wished they'd split it into separate pedalboard and amp plugins, but also allowed you to get hide the browser/chain area. Minimising the amount of "noise" on the UI helps to stay focused I feel.

If it doesn't need to be there, then it shouldn't be, especially when it can be just now click away.

I'm pretty impressed by Overloud TH-U.
Finally something with a great warm sound as if it's a real amp and not a plastic replica from a computer.

Will probably sell Guitar Rig 7 soon.
If anyone interested ;)

Are you refering to the models or the rig player?
For me the models sound similar to other quality stuff like Kuassa and Kazrog but the rig player sounds as real as NAM with much less cpu hit
We jumped the fence because it was a fence not be cause the grass was greener.
